TOP: Second place for the still outstanding (and ridden!) „Karpatenhund“ by Blech und Drüber from Austria, an unique handcrafted desing-Sportster did beat the Kuwait 32-Inch behemoth and numerous other high-class competitors in the „Championship“ class. Hard competition for the „Men in Black“ of Munich!

European Bike Week the 20th Anniversary – and it was a fitting Anniversary! Following a week of at least some sunny weather, riding and party time, the Custom Chrome Europe Ride-In Show retained its strong position with participants of absolute outstanding quality, including custo-mizers from all over Europe and even artists with motorcycle passion! Judging was – as al-ways – extremely difficult and tight, performed by some of the best custombike journalists and bloggers from Europe.

As the events and options for riders were plenty – and the weather forecast for the weekend not too sunny, a lot of custombike riders already hit the road on Saturday, cutting down the participation in all bike shows. Nevertheless, es-pecially in the four „core“ classes of the „Faaker See Cham-pionship“, the fight for the € 1000,-- cheques was a tough one.

- 15 Years CCE Ride-In Faak! -

Again, the four top categories Championship, Modified HD, Jammer Old School and RevTech-Performance saw tight competition between some of the best customizers of Eu-rope, this time especially from Italy, Austria and Germany.

„Balance“ by Munich/Germany based „Men in Black“ Custo-ms stepped ahead at the CCE Show and took the top award in the Championship class, € 1000,-- in CCE parts and a trip to Motor Bike Expo Verona 2018! The still amazing „Kar-patenhund“ (translates into Dog of Carpathia“) by Austria‘s top sheet metal artist „Blech & Drüber“ was introduced at Custombike 2016, won big in Verona 2017 and now got 2nd in the „Champs“ class. „The Slayer“, a 2 x 32 Inch whee-led Monsterbike by Nedz Design/Nedal A. Amin of Kuwait placed in 3rd, narrowly beating Asso Special Bikes „Atomic Snail“.

Volker Gegenfurthner of Deluxe Garage in Bernried/Germany with his ultra-painted Chicano style „The Rise of the Mexican” scored a solid second place. From Swiss Moto to Faak, the bike has won numerous prices, thanks to the „bling job“ that includes lots of chrome and a multi layer paint job that make you use your sunglasses. The „Chicano“ theme has been trendy inthe last years, but this bike takes it one level up! RIGHT: „Race Chopper“ by Vida Loca Choppers/Switzerland is one tought cookie to handle, thanks to the upgraded Twin Cam motor with Panhead covers. Dual front disc is not just style, but necessary to tame this beast!The Italians took it with ease, since their „McLaren“ style turbo-powered V-Rod just won them the € 1000,-- cheque in the „Modified Harley“ class, beating German craftsman Volker Gegenfurthner of Deluxe Garage in Bernried/Germa-ny with his ultra-painted Chicano style „The Rise of the Me-xican” and one outrageously fast „Race Chopper“ by Vida Loca Choppers/Switzerland.

turday, few „officials“ showed up with their new bikes, with one major exception: Harley-Davidson Wuerzburg Village (www.hdwv.de) owner Christoph „Chicken“ Repp introdu-ced the world‘s first 2018 model year „Fat Boy“ conversi-on, built in 4 days of day and nightshift work to premiere in Faak! This also got him onto the podium during the trophy ceremony, since he was another „pick“ by Motor Bike Expo Verona.


The „Jammer Old School“ class saw the usual big line-up of

great „Old School“ conversions with Slovenia‘s Marko Gsel-man scoring 1st with his super-detailed „Wrench“, handcraf-ted by his shop MG Customs. Look at the hand shift and the name is pretty much self-explaining. The „1948 Open Panhead“ by Josef Kugelmann/Germany attended again and is still a winner. The open valve train is an outstanding piece of mechanical work. Probably a little bit underrated by the judges, the „Café Köter“ Triumph Cafe Racer featured not just extraordinary details on a great Triumph conversion, builder Mike Etienne, visiting from Jersey, Channel Islands

Another close result and head-to-head fight was the „RevTech Performance“ class, traditionally reserved for mo-torcycles powered by CCE‘s RevTech motors. At the end, „SP 2“ by Engelschmiede/North Germany beat the Bava-rians of Augustin Motorcycles/South Germany which surely went „Over the Top“ with both their own CARBON frame and

125 Cubic Inch RevTech motor! A wild ride in many ways. „Markus III“ by Markus Wilhelm/Germany won 3rd with his well running „88“ RevTech engine.


No other class experiences such a different participation like „Chopper“: From eight competitors in 2016 to two in 2017 (other potential „Chopper“ candidates competed in other ca-tegories), „El Caro“ by Freakie-Motorcycles/Germany had easy ride to the top, followed by „Zeus“ of Sten Ambrosi/Italy. Tribute to the now „mothballed“ F 117 Stealth-Fighter, Lotter Xtreme Bikes/Germany built a US-Air Force themed Bagger that unfortunately lacks the distinctive radar reflec-ting „Stealth“ paint which would have been practical around Faak: Radar Speed traps are plenty during European Bike Week in Carinthia and any „invisible“ bike (or paint ...) for faster riders would have been a sales hit! A great and extre-mely difficult built that made it to the top is Andre Irmscher‘s „V-Rod Bagger“ – it is converted with Harley-Davidson and aftermarket components converting the Rod into a Road

Bagger 1 to 3 with state of the art technology: Engels Schmiede is based on an „Augustin“ frame, „F 117“ more conventional, but an „homemade“ V-Rod con-version is certainly an ambitious project – wow!

The „Sportster-Engine“ class saw a true „duel“ which was decided narrowly for the “Budget Ironhead” Sportster of Pe-ter vd Barselaar, which was built at the „Junior Bike Build-Off“ at Big Twin Expo/Holland in 2016. The „Ironhead“ cost about € 4.000,--, with the infusion of 3.000,-- in parts. The „Sportster Scrambler“ Sportster by 8tech Racing/Germany was on display all week at the Oehlins booth in the Arneitz Custom Show.

This years Chopper lineup saw different concepts and radical engines: The first V8 Chopper to be pre-sent in the show is usually on a Showtruck! „Zeus“ by Sten Ambrosi/Italy might be also Dragracing!

The crowd was - as always – huge and the bike show was well attended from start to finish! Thanks to all competitors for the excellent motorcycles exhibited! Special thanks also to the high-class panel of judges that included members of the press, Andrea Colapinto of Bikers Life/Italy, Onno Wie-ringa, Frank Sander, Todd Hinrichs of Kuryakyn/USA, who are the ones that make this event possible. CCE-Partners sponsoring the show were Dunlop tires, Kuryakyn, „Bolt On and Ride“ 2016 Bike-builder Cult Werk, Spyke and Com-pufire.


Again, Motor Bike Expo Verona picked two of the top bikes

and invited them to the 2018 event at Verona Fiere! „Cham-pionship“ winner „Men in Black“ of Munich will present the outstanding „Balance“ in Verona, of course being nominated for the MBE/CCE Italian Championship with a #1 plate, so will Harley-Davidson Wuerzburg Village with the record-built 2018 „Fat Boy“! Both will enjoy the full benefits of Motor Bike Expo 2018, where Custom Chrome Europe will run the next major Bike Show! For its 16th edition of 2018, the European Bike Week may see some additional cool ideas at Arneitz Custom Show – the Show will go on!

CHAMPIONSHIP CLASS WINNER:„Balance“ Boardtracker by MiB CustomPremiering at European Bike Week 2017, „Balance“ will certainly be one of the most radical bikes built in Germany this year! The „making of“ this Boardtrack style beauty, featuring all handcrafted pneumatical suspended front and rear, the built of the rolling chassis is documented on the MIB website. The Feldkirchen (near Munich) based shop has already made itself a name for radical custom creations, but „Balance“ tops them all. A super-radical concept frame, the bike is – as the images proof – ridable on the road – and features numerous technical and electronic details which are hidden under the sparse bodywork. His Norton-based Chopper has won at CCE‘s Faak Show, his „Karpatenhund“ is again a concept bike „over the top“ in terms of design and craftsmanship with some outstanding aluminum metal work that earned him the „Willie G. Davidson Design Award“ from the hands of Karen Davidson at Verona‘s MOTOR BIKE EXPO in January 2017, where the bike was photographed. The Faak 2017 Studio-1 film shooting is rolling!


Custom Chrome Europe in Faak......is a long-time success story that is closely connected to the Arneitz Custom Show which is actually located in Neuegg am See. With 20 years of European Bike Week, the first EBW, then the 95th Anniversary of Harley-Davidson, at Faak has been celebrated almost at the same time that CCE was founded in 1998. By the time the first CCE Ride-In Show was held at the Arneitz event site, in a horseshoe-shaped „CCE Village“ next to the still existing „Burnout Bar“, the riding direction (in-itially clockwise) around the lake was reversed so that riders would first stop in the Harley-village rather than the immensly popular Arneitz area. For many years, the distinctive Custom Chrome Europe tent has been the „landmark“ on this site, but the tent also aged and was „mo-thballed“ after this years Superrally. Nevertheless, new ideas have al-ready been forged to get additional „custom action“ into Arneitz Custom Show, which still features a cool program of custombike presentations, customizers and all types of custom services. Wurzen - Vrsic - Predil – Passes into history!Exactly 100 years ago, a terrible battle raged at what today is a remo-te, but increasingly popular touring destination for hikers and rafters in the upper Isonzo Valley. In fact, the Vrsic pass, Slovenias highest pass over the Alps would have not existed without the need to feed the 1915-1917 slaughter with men and material – and it was built by Rus-sian PoW‘s. Today, the routes are renewed and „streamlined“ for mass tourism, loosing their character quickly to safety barriers and security measures. While the Predil pass was known and used since Roman times and fought for by Napoleon and others, the Wurzenpass, only a stone‘s throw from the event, was still fortified during the Yugoslavia conflict in the Nineties, now the secret bunkers open to the public! September 9th 2017, Custom Chrome International Bike Show Series Faaker See Championship 2017.

The 15th edition of the CCE Ride In Bike Show in Faak fell to the 20th Edition of European Bike Week, of which „Showmaster“ and Motographer Horst Roesler has organized 14 Events (one missed for Bonneville) and 18 European Bike Weeks (missing a rained out 1999 event). Every year, organizing the show and producing the story for CUSTOM CHROME EUROPE becomes a bit more ambitious, especially since the amount of material in the available time is difficlut to sort out and „compress“ it into something you can publish. We hope, we succeeded in helping you again to promote custo-mbike building and creativity, which was the reason for this event from the beginning. The feature CD includes all images shown in this PDF preview PLUS multiple options on winning bikes, PLUS some lifestyle and action shots. JUDGING PROCEDURE FAAK RIDE-IN 2017: Championship Class The Championship Class is the premier class at all Custom Chrome International Bike Show Series events. This class features one-off custom bikes, with no strings or rules of design attached. There are no limitations or structure of the entries in this class. The Championship Class is a showcase for true fusion design where the motorcycle builders are free to explore and push the boundaries of what makes a custom motorcycle.

Modified Harley Class In the Modified Harley class the frame and motor must be original equipment from Harley-Davidson. This includes all Screamin’ Eagle and special equipped bikes from the factory or any year or model. Any modification may be made to the frame, motor or sheet metal. The engine cases must remain original equipment - however, any modification to the cylinders and heads may be made. Use of aftermarket or custom parts is acceptable.

RevTech Performance ClassThe RevTech Performance Class is for bikes built around any platform of RevTech motor. Any modification can be made to frame, motor, sheet metal or components in the RevTech Performance Class. Use of aftermarket or custom parts is acceptable. (NOTE: It is OPTIONAL to sign in a RevTech powered motorcycle in this class, you CAN enter your RevTech-powered motorcycle in ANY OTHER class).

Jammer Old Style/School Class: The Jammer Old School Class is for bikes that represent the retro and old school lifestyle. The Jammer Old School Class is focused on bikes built with retro styling and motors. Any frame or drivetrain may be used that keeps the Old School theme to the bike. Motors should be of vintage or retro style platform. Any fabrication is acceptable to the motor, frame, sheet metal or components. Use of aftermarket or custom parts is acceptable in the Original Old School Class. The bike must be entered by the builder.

Note on judgement: The judgement is performed by a jury of 10 to 20 members: Custombike specialists, Manufacturers and journalists. Judged will be for general look, technical and artistic brilliance, plus detailling and craftsmanship of the bike. NOT TO BE JUDGED is the state of cleaning, especially if the bike is dirty from operation or riding. Judgement is done by an independent jury with no right to claim against the judgement of the jury. Exhibition of the bikes is at your own risk. Custom Chrome Europe is not responsible for any damage on the bikes during show and awards ceremony.
