Dear Friends,
As our Easter season progresses, we find ourselves focusing less on the early church and more on what we are to do now. Our Gospels for the next few weeks are taken from Jesus’ “farewell discourse” at the Last Supper found in the Gospel of John. In today’s excerpt we heard Jesus reassure Thomas, Philip and each of us, who don’t understand where Jesus is going, much less how to follow him there. All we have to do is focus on knowing him and believing in him, and we will find the way. It will not be easy to do, but that is why we have a community behind us, to help us to see and to pray for a life journey filled with the confidence of the Gospel message. Jesus clearly reminded us today that “He is the way, the truth and the life.” Pray this week for a deeper understanding of this reality and ask the Holy Spirit to guide and protect us in this way, truth and life!
This weekend, at all the Masses celebrated, we remember the intentions of the Mothers’ Day Remembrances. We, the priests, also take this opportunity to wish all the Moms of the parish a wonderful day filled with much love and gratitude!
It has come to my attention again, the desire for silence and quiet in church before and after Mass to allow members of the community to prepare for and offer a thanksgiving after Mass. I have addressed this in a previous bulletin letter shortly after we opened the new narthex and gathering space outside for fellowship and sociability. Please see this as a reminder to be conscious of those around you who wish the quiet of the church for their prayers and to take your extended conversations away from the sacred space in church. THANK YOU for your cooperation with this request!
The Catholic Charities Appeal continues throughout the archdiocese. This Appeal assists the less fortunate among us throughout the five county region which comprises the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. For those who have not made a contribution to this worthy Appeal, there is still time. For your convenience there are forms in the pews for the remainder of this month. For all who have contributed, THANK YOU on behalf of those in need! You will notice from the thermometer in the narthex, we have not only reached our goal but have surpassed it in a very big way. This is TERRIFIC! But there is always a need that calls for charity and many opportunities to offer HOPE. You can be the source of this hope! May God bless you for your works of charity!
Next Saturday, May 20th, at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in Philadelphia, Archbishop Chaput will ordain TWO men to the sacred priesthood, Father Matthew Brody and Father Brian Connolly. We rejoice in their ordination! But as you can see, this is a very small ordination class. There will be many more priests who will retire this June. We can see the need to continue to pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and consecrated life. The month of May also marks priestly anniversaries; this year Father Cornely will mark his 69th anniversary, Father Biedrzycki his first and my 37th. Deacon George will mark his 23rd anniversary as a deacon this June. We beg your good prayers as we mark these anniversaries and thank you for your generous support and cooperation with the Lord’s work before us!
May Saint Robert Bellarmine continue to bless our community who gather in prayer under his patronage!
With prayers,
Fifth Sunday O
f Easter
DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET The Divine Mercy Chaplet is recited each Monday during the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, in the Chapel. Come and join us at 3:00 PM. It was given to us by Jesus Christ through St. Maria Faustina and is said using the Rosary. Many graces are attached to its recitation. If you are not familiar with the prayers, there are pamphlets located in the Narthex explaining the simple prayer order. If you can’t join us, please take a pamphlet home and recite the Chaplet at your convenience.
Dear St. Robert Bellarmine Parish,
Thank you for your generous financial support and prayers for our upcoming summer service trips. Your kindness and support truly showed the caring nature of our parish. We are blessed to be a part of such a wonderful & loving community.
Sincerely,
Brendan Dulin, Michael McLaren, & David Gutekunst

At their recent Provincial Meeting on May 1, 2017, the Bishops of Pennsylvania voted to approve a recommendation that each Catholic diocese and eparchy in the Commonwealth be dedicated to the Blessed Mother.
What prompted the proposal was the intend for the dioceses and eparchies in the Commonwealth to observe the 100th Anniversary of the apparition of the Blessed Mother at Fatima.
The official dedication will be marked with a special Mass to be celebrated in St. Patrick Cathedral in Harrisburg at 12:00Noon on Wednesday, September 27 by all the bishops in the state. This Mass is scheduled during the time when the bishops will gather for their next provincial meeting.
The second part of the dedication will be an observance in each diocese and eparchy the weekend of October 14-15.
More details will be forthcoming.

the New Testament. She is in all
the Gospels (Matthew– chapters

FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER John 14:1-12
“Do not let your hearts be troubled.”
Today’s gospel is from the
Last Supper discourse meant to
be reassuring words. Yet
Thomas and Philip are not
reassured and question Jesus.
The leap from the Jesus at the
Last Supper to the Jesus after
the resurrection is one giant step,
one the disciples have not yet
taken. But we have taken this
leap. We are an Easter people.
We have received the Holy Spirit who empowers us
to know Jesus, through him to know the Father, and to
do the works of Jesus. When we believe, our troubles
and anxiety are easier to manage.
“Lord, let you mercy be on us, as we place our
trust in you.” Psalm 33
Joining Our Work to God’s There are many parts to happiness: simple courtesy, a sense of gratitude,
mutual respect and meaningful, satisfying work. Happiness must not be relegated to those times and activities that
are outside the circle of labor, or existence would be dreary indeed. Work can be done cheerfully or
begrudgingly. What we do and how we do it impinge deeply on happiness. Prayer can transform our work,
either at the beginning, middle or end of a task. Doing all work in God’s presence changes everything. St. Paul
advises us to “to live through love in God’s presence.” This is the salt, added to the expenditure of energy, that
makes our work life joyful! Part of our happiness is to bring a spirit of prayer to every work
situation. Pathways to Prayer by Bishop Robert Morneau
“Creator God, we participate in your work of giving life and love to others. May our labors be
pleasing to you. Give us your Spirit that we may do our work well and, if possible, with joy. May no
duty be too small in its power to give you honor and praise.”
