13 Saturday December 29, 2018 STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Migrant Cell and Jagti Tenement Committee Jagti Nagrota on Friday asserted that BJP led Government at the Centre has failed to redress the problems of the migrant community as the commitments made by the leaders of BJP during past elections have not been ful- filled. In the meeting held here on Friday, Shadi Lal Pandita, Co- convenor, PCC Migrant Cell and President JTC said that though ration cards have been issued to the migrant benefici- aries under employees and pensioner category but it is surprising that only 4 Kg ration is being supplied against each ration card which does not meet the domestic needs of these migrant families which has put the migrants to lot of sufferings. He has said that this meager quantity too is not being supplied regularly and timely which has further added to the sufferings of the migrants. Pandita further said that the then Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh had announced employment pack- age of 6,000 posts for Kashmiri Pandit migrant edu- cated youths out of which only 3,000 posts have been filled while as remaining 3,000 posts under this employment pack- age are still to be filled. Pandita has said that the BJP had assured for perma- nent rehabilitation of the Kashmiri Pandit community in Kashmir Valley but it is sur- prising that despite lapse of more than four years nothing has been done in this regard with the result the community is still living in exile. 'BJP Govt failed to redress problems of migrant community' STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: The Mayor, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta on Friday toured different local- ities of Bahu Fort area along with Councilor of Ward No. 47 Sharda Kumari, Anuradha Charak, senior BJP leader, Dr. Jaffar Iqbal Municipal Veterinary Officer JMC and other field staff of Municipal Corporation. The mayor took stock of the grievances of the resi- dents of Bahu Fort area which were raised by them regarding prevailing sanita- tion conditions, menace of stray dogs/animals, proper removal of garbage from their lanes on routine basis, remodeling of lanes/drains. He directed the concerned officers on spot regarding the grievances of the resi- dents and sort it out on war footing and also asked the people to avoid throwing their house hold garbage filth etc. on the public lane and drain which blocks the drains and Nallahs and cre- ate unhygienic condition. The mayor also requested the concerned councilor of the ward to identify suitable site in her ward for further disposal of house hold garbage for segregation in a proper way and also direct the dairy owners not to throw cow dung of dairies in the public lane and drains and avail the facilities of loan of Rs.30,000 under proper subsidy of Rs. 13,000 for installing Bio- gas unit in their dairy farm unless they have sufficient land available within their premises and with the condi- tion that they would not throw cow dung and other waste in the public lanes and drains. Mayor appealed to the gen- eral public and shopkeepers of the city to avoid use of polythene carry bags and cooperate with the Jammu Municipal Corporation to make Jammu neat, clean and green under Swachh Bharat Mission. STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Asking that the Congress ideology based on secularism and 'unity in diversity' is the only way to keep the country strong and united, PCC Chief G.A Mir on Friday lashed out at the divisive policies of BJP which have created divisions in the society. Mir was speaking in the function organised to cele- brate 134th Foundation Day of the party, here on Friday. Addressing a gathering PCC Chief said that Congress Party has a history of struggle and sacrifices for the nation during the 133 years. "It united the entire coun- try under one umbrella to attain freedom and there after laid strong foundation of this country, which has emerged as one of the strong nations in the world, in sev- enty years after freedom," he said. Under Rahul Gandhi, he said, Congress has proved that the Modi led BJP would face a tough time in the 2019 elections, as the falsehood and fake propaganda against Congress is getting exposed with every passing day. The camp was organized on the directions of Director Agriculture Jammu and under the guidance of Chief Agriculture Officer Jammu and Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Dansal. A field visit was organised during the camp where var- ious queries regarding weeds, crop condition and some other issues of farm- ers discussed. Weedicides and micronu- trients were provided to farmers free of cost to eradicate all type of weeds. The officials of Agriculture Department advised the farmers for spraying with adequate water for best results from weedicides. They further advised minimum one pump per kanal for effec- tive use of weedicides. "Power sprayers, power tiller, power weeder, etc. can be used for minimise manpower. Prof Dhar advised the Rectors/Directors of vari- ous off site campuses to do a critical analysis of vari- ous courses being offered in their respective campus- es in view the employabili- ty scenario, student per- ception, need of the area and available infrastruc- ture and directed them to timely submission of detailed proposals so that new job oriented courses can be started in the Offsite Campuses. Lashing out hard at her statement, the former Deputy Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, Kavinder Gupta in his interview to a private channel said, it was very unfortunate on the part of such senior politician to issue misleading statements which are hostile to the process of peace and national interests. STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: To speed up themovement of theAgriculture Department todouble the income of farm-ers, an awareness campwas organised underNational Food SecurityMission (NFSM) (Wheat)2018-19 at Cluster MeenSarkar.

The camp was organizedon the directions ofDirector AgricultureJammu and under theguidance of ChiefAgriculture Officer Jammuand Sub DivisionalAgriculture Officer Dansal.

A field visit was organisedduring the camp where var-ious queries regardingweeds, crop condition andsome other issues of farm-ers discussed.

Weedicides and micronu-trients were provided tofarmers free of cost toeradicate all type of weeds.

The officials ofAgriculture Departmentadvised the farmers forspraying with adequatewater for best results fromweedicides. They furtheradvised minimum onepump per kanal for effec-tive use of weedicides.

"Power sprayers, powertiller, power weeder, etc.can be used for minimisemanpower. These alongwith many others equip-ments are available tofarmers on subsidy fromthe department," the offi-cials of AgricultureDepartment said andadvised to keep in touchwith extension agency ofthe department for maxi-mum benefits as depart-ment have many schemesfor welfare of farmer com-munity.

Among other officers whowere present during thecamp include SurinderKumar AEO ChanniHimmat, JAEO AshokKumar, AEAs Amit Gupta,Amit Pathania, ShivangiSharma, Navneet Kour,Suriya Shehnaz, RohiniManhas, Surinder Singhand Amit Gandotra.Arshad Ali, Baloch Mohd,Lateef Ahmad and RajWali were among the farm-ers who attended the meet-ing.

Prof Dhar advised theRectors/Directors of vari-ous off site campuses to doa critical analysis of vari-ous courses being offeredin their respective campus-es in view the employabili-ty scenario, student per-ception, need of the areaand available infrastruc-

ture and directed them totimely submission ofdetailed proposals so thatnew job oriented coursescan be started in theOffsite Campuses.

He also advised them tostart skill developmentcourses like B.Voc in con-sultation with variousfunding agencies i.e. UGC,Skill India, DST etc.

Lashing out hard at herstatement, the former DeputyChief Minister and seniorBJP leader, Kavinder Guptain his interview to a privatechannel said, it was veryunfortunate on the part ofsuch senior politician to issuemisleading statements whichare hostile to the process ofpeace and national interests.

Prof. Sharma further saidthat the demands and packageof PoK DPs were hamperedintentionally and deliberatelyonly to appease a specific com-munity that has been enjoyingall sorts of benefits. The pack-age that was passed by StateCabinet in year 2014 in whichRs 25 lakh per family, reserva-tion to wards of PoK DPs inprofessional and technical col-leges across the country,employment package forunemployed youths and oth-ers incorporated has not beenimplemented in toto.

Teen dies due to suffocationin Pattan, three others critical

STATE TIMES NEWSSRINAGAR: A teen died and three others were hospi-talised due to asphyxiation in Burran village of Pattan innorth Kashmir's Baramulla district on Friday.

As per the details from Pattan hospital administration, four persons were brought at SDH Pattan in a criticalstate on Friday morning after family members foundthem unconscious in their room. They were immediatelyshifted to SDH Pattan where a 13 year old boy identifiedas Haroon Rashid was declared dead on arrival. Thecause of the death according to BMO Pattan is suffoca-tion caused by gas heater. Three critically ill patientswere immediately shifted to a hospital in Srinagar fortreatment, he said.

As per the details, a party from Police Station GandhiNagar during Naka at T Chowk Digiana forchecking/frisking of vehicles signalled one motorcycle(JK02CE/1870) coming towards Naka to stop butobserving the police motorcyclist tried to escape but wascaught.

During questioning he disclosed his name as MandeepSingh alias Mantu alias Taman son of Satnam Singh res-ident of Sanjay Nagar Digiana Jammu and on his check-ing, 30 gms heroin was recovered from his possession.

24 bovines rescued, 2 smugglers nabbed

STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Police on Friday foiled a bovine smuggling bid byrescuing 24 bovines and arresting two smugglers.

As per the details, Gadigarh Police on a tip off laid aNaka at Babliayna area and intercepted a truck. Duringsearch, it was found laden with 24 bovines which wererescued. Two smugglers identified as Harbans Lal residentof Chak Mohd Yar and Devinder Singh resident of SimbalCamp were arrested and a case under relevant section oflaw was registered against them.

STATE TIMES NEWSNAGROTA: Continuing its war against drugs, componentpolice of Jammu District on Friday achieved a major suc-cess by busting a gang of narcotic smugglers and makinga recovery of huge consignment of high quality Charasfrom their possession.

As per the details, SP Police Component, Jammu, SSPSandeep Mehta deputed a team of component sleuthswho laid a joint Naka at Toll Plaza Nagrota along with aparty of Police Station, Nagrota.

During the checking of vehicles, one Santro Car (DL 9CM-7899) was stopped and during comprehensive searchof the said vehicle, 18 kg of high quality Charas whichwas concealed in specially designed chambers inside thebody of car was seized. On further enquiry, the two per-sons on board disclosed their identity as Mohd. AltafKhan (50) son of Mohd. Aslam Khan resident of ZakooraSrinagar and Rameez Raja (32) son of Mohd. Shafi resi-dent of of Hazratbal Srinagar. The said consignment ofnarcotics and the vehicle have been seized and both thepersons have been arrested. A case under relevant sec-tions of the law NDPS Act was registered at PoliceStation Nagrota. Further investigation is going on touncover the others involved in it which may lead to morearrests.
