The tip for ordering here: get your own whole pie made fresh! A large pizza pie and a 2 liter bottle of soda for $11 that tastes fresh. Can’t beat that! CASH ONLY

Calypso Maria’s BMaria’s Beach, EnsenadaPhone: 787-823-1626Hours: Daily 11am – 10pm(ish) Head to Calypso for the best pina coladas in town made by Troy. Calypso is best enjoyed for lunch or their sunset happy hour. They’ve got a great view of the sun going down over the water at Maria’s beach and usually have live music on Fridays and Saturdays.

This type of food seems out of place in our small beach town, but their food is anything but ordinary. Excellent and authentic cuisine with German beers on tap.

SeServing a traditional breakfast menu followed up at lunch by east coast Boars Head hoagies the size of baseball bats and a light dinner menu ranging from spaghetti and meatballs, mahi fillet or BBQ ribs. It’s simple and delicious.

Joe’s Club NauticoRoad 413, Rincon Marina Phone: 787-404-6720 Hours: Daily 11am – 12am Club Club Nautico has reopened with Joe behind the bar. A fresh coat of paint, a juke box and snack bar really did wonders for this place. Fun spot in the marina.

Kahuna Burger Bar at Casa Verde Hotel PuntasPhone: 787-823-3756 Hours: Daily 12pm – 2am This burger bar offers tasty pub grub with a lively bar scene for the under 30 crowd. Pull up a chair at the big circular bar and catch the latest sports game while sipping iced cold beers and cocktails.

LLa Cambija Balneario (Town Beach) Phone: 787-823-1118 Hours: Daily 12pm – 9pm, Closed Tuesdays Located across the street from the old water tower (la cambija), this little joint serves the best fish and chicken pinchos (fish/meat on a stick) in town. Other standouts on the menu include their burritos and wide variety of freshly made empanadas. Medallas are served ice cold; perfect for a hot tropical day.

One of the only oceanfront restau-rants in Rincon with amazing sunset views, offering a constantly changing menu, you’re definitely in for a treat. Small dish options with excellent cocktails, sangria, specialty beers and extensive wine list. They also serve brunch on the weekends with killer bloody marys and mimosas. Bingo on Wednesday nights. Scaled back summer schedule, call ahead to confirm.

Lucky 13 BBQ Road 115 Phone: 939-697-8005 Hours: Daily 9am – 10pm (Bar open later) LLocated across from Edwards Grocery, this roadside joint isn’t fancy and doesn’t try to be. They serve down and dirty plates that are budget friendly. With all day brunch, taco bar and southern BBQ theme, give it a try you won’t be disappointed. Great lunch option!

Mi Familia’s Pizza at Lazy Parrot Hotel Road 413, Puntas Phone: 787-823-0103 Hours: Daily 11:30am – 10pm UndernUnderneath the Lazy Parrot Hotel, this newly renovated poolside restaurant boasts an imported brick oven making thin crust pizza, paninis, salads and beer on tap. It’s a great place to enjoy an affordable tasty dinner in a casual atmosphere. Feel free to bring a bathing suit and jump in the pool while waiting for food.

Tequila Tuesdays are a big hit, with low priced tequila shots and Coronas as well as $0.25 wings and shrimp. The steak fajitas are our fave! Locals and tourist alike are always impressed with his farm to table and ocean to table cuisine. This is a must during your vacation. Summer schedule varies.

They offer home-style cooking and huge portions in a fun nautical themed outdoor setting. Nicole’s been making her grandmother’s recipes for years so don’t miss out on the pasta dishes and the calamari is the best I’ve ever had! The fish is always fresh, the salads always filling, and the steaks are cooked perfectly. Summertime schedule varies.

Steps Quick Lunch Steps Beach, Ensenada HouHours: 8:30am – 5:30pm Steps Quick Lunch is serving up lunch right on Steps Beach with BBQ chicken or fresh fish pinchos (kabobs) as well as fish, steak or chicken empanadas, all served with a homemade pico de gallo that’s da bomb! Wash it down with a coco frio. This husband and wife team always uses fresh local ingredients.

This Argentine rThis Argentine restaurant, run by a husband and wife team, has hit it out of the ballpark with their grilled steaks, sausage, pork, lamb etc. It’s a real meat lovers place but they also offer some delicious pastas and side dishes. The setting is intimate and inviting. A great new addition to our worldly array of restaurants in town.

Dogman’s DeliCarr 413, Km 1.2Phone: 787-232-8962Hours: Vary. Call ahead. Eagerly anticipated and recently opened, Duke’s Dogman’s Deli offers up a menu featuring Boar’s Head products. Get your sandwich to-go or enjoy a cold beer on their outdoor patio across the street from Carta Buena and R Villa.

Rincón Beer Company Downtown PlazaPhone: 787-407-0121 Hours: Daily 4pm – 11pm (sometimes later), Closed Mondays Draft craft beers from Puerto Rico. Artisinal spirits and cocktails, located conveniently in the town plaza.

Tamboo SSandy Beach, PuntasPhone: 787-823-8550 Hours: 12pm – 10pm (Bar open late night) Puntas’ most happening night spot. Not particularly known for their food but known for their dance floor and drinks on the beach. Caters primarily to the under 30 crowd after 9pm. If you have teenage daughters, they’ll be psyched to go here. Don’t let them!

Villa Cofresi RRoad 115, Km 12Phone: 787-823-2450 Hours: 10am – 12am (beach bar and restaurant) This place is a pretty big hotel that has an amazing beachfront bar and restaurant. Everyone goes for the famous “Pirata” rum drink served in a coconut - the ultimate tourist drink that the locals still order too! Just be warned, one is fun, two is trouble, three is “call a cab and take two Advil before going to bed”. They also offer lunch and dinner. Try the whole red snapper, a Puerto Rican classic that’s done exceptionally well there!

Local Fruit Stands: La Placita Benedicion + Frutera CastroThere are two fruit stands located on Road 115 in between the Econo and Edwards. Both on the EAST (left) side of the street. They are usually open early mornings to early evening.

7xpress Convenience Store RRoad 115Hours: Daily 7:00am - 12:00am Rincón's version of a 7-Eleven. Basics and quick stop for snacks, COLD BEER and more. Located just out-side the Downtown Plaza.

Farmer's Market Town Plaza Every Sunday 8:00am - 1:00pm Located in the Downtown Plaza. Happening every Sunday. Local vendor food, vegetables, essential oils and more.

True ocean to table dining options if you get lucky: mahi-mahi (dorado), tuna, snapper, wahoo, king fish and grouper to name a few. Catch and release possibilities too - marlin, sailfish, mermaids. Captain Pepe is a local, extremely knowledgeable and has the nicest boat around, a 34’ tournament rigged Contender.

Puntas Surf SchoolPhone: 787-366-1689 MeliMelissa is the only female surf instructor in town and she can hang with the best of them. She has over 10 years of experience and we love her because she’s got a great attitude. Beginner boards provided with lesson.

Mar Azul Surf & Paddle Board RentalsRoad 413, Puntas Phone: 787-823-5692 BoBobby and Raquel have the best equipment in town and are extremely knowledgeable about the local surf breaks and reef. They offer guided tours, surf lessons, rentals and a smile. Located in Puntas about 1/2 mile past the Lazy Parrot on the same side of the street.

Capital Water SportsBalneario, Sunset PlazaPhone: 787-823-2789This place This place has a ton of beach toys for rent. The favorite seems to be the banana boat. Get a crew together to bounce along on the inflatable banana while constantly looking over your shoulder for Jaws.

All levels welcome. They can even arrange for a professional photographer to capture your wave riding experience. Surfboard and paddle board rentals as well.

Take the morning ride when it’s still cool, or an early evening sunset ride through the trails, on the beach and around town on the famous pinto horses.

If you’re into hiking, cave exploration, river trekking, high diving off boulders and that kind of thing, they will guide you in the right direction.

Gozalandia, San Sebastian WaterfallsFor a day trip ouFor a day trip outside of Rincón, a must see is the waterfalls in nearby San Sebastian. Approximately an hour drive, printed directions have been provided and are also available at Carta Buena.

Rincón Town Art Walk Every Thursday, Downtown Plaza The seasonal artwalk allows local artisans to show their crafts while offering a fun away to socialize, meet new people and bring home a souvenir or piece of art. Shops stay open late, while locals and tourists meander from shop to bar to kiosk. Summer schedule varies.

Malena runs this quirky roadside shop and stocks it with fun local art work, jewelry, local hot sauces and beach attire.

LLocal ATMs and BankingThere are a few ATMs and bank facilities close to the house in town. Banco Popular is the main bank and is located down Road 115, past Econo Grocery, on the left hand side. You can find local ATMs at various locations throughout town including Econo Grocery Store, Panaderia Rincoena (the bakery with the green awning located in the Downtown Plaza) and at the Coopertiva Bank located on Road 115.
