We give a warm welcome to all of our guests joining us for our annual Strawberry Festival. We hope you enjoy our St. Isidore hospitality, along with great entertainment, delicious foods (especially the strawberry delights), and wonderful company. We thank our Festival Committee, and the more than seventy parishioners who volunteered to serve this weekend.
Please plan on joining us following all of the Masses next weekend, June 30 and July 1, for “Farewell” receptions for Deacon Bill Stimpson and Fr. Noel Cornelio. Deacon Bill assumed “Senior Deacon, Inactive” status on June 17th. Fr. Noel will be leaving our parish on July 1 to begin an assignment as pastor of the clustered parishes of Sacred Heart of Jesus in Imlay City, and St. Nicholas, Capac. Please join us to thank them for their ministry here, and to send them forth on their new journeys with our blessing.
Blessings,Fr. Ron Victor

CSA MINUTE CSA 2.0 Youth MinistryYour gifts to the Catholic Services Appeal help high school-age teens in the Archdiocese of Detroit become better Christian leaders, examples to their peers, and evangelizers through Youth Leadership and Evangelization Training.“Chosen to Follow” will cover discipleship, communication, facilitation, prayer, and event planning, as well as sharing faith with other teens. Through the “Living Your Strengths” resource, teens will also learn to use their individual strengths in their daily lives.
Offered by archdiocesan Youth Ministry Office, Youth Leadership and Evangelization Training will be held overnight at St. Jane Frances de Chantal Parish in Sterling Heights this July 20-21.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING CSA 2.0. Because of your generous response, we appear on target to hit our CSA target for the first time in more than 25 years, and only the second time in our 60+ year history.
Remember, if you’ve never supported the CSA before, we’ve invited you to consider donating at least $50 to this worthwhile campaign. An official update will be included in the July 8, 2018 bulletin.
Stay tuned for the official announcement.

WERE THE NAZIS WRONG? OR, JUST AHEAD OF THEIR TIME
May 26,2018, will not likely be recognized by many as one of the darkest days of human history. On this day, Ireland, a “Christian” country, voted into law a provision for abortions. Admittedly, I have not given much thought to the “arguments” supporting the wholesale murder of the unborn, the voiceless human race, but I imagine that the arguments fell in line with the arguments made here in America: “It is MY BODY!”; “It is kinder to the baby to kill it in the womb than to have it suffer after birth”; “I cannot care for it!”; “It would always need special care or institutionalizing”; “It doesn’t fit into my plans right now”. I have heard so many men and women voice these “arguments” in favor of providing abortions that I simply presume that these arguments apply to all those who imagine that abortions are, in some way, a humane answer to life’s difficulties. And, while there is legitimacy to some of the above concerns, theses “arguments” frighten me greatly! Whether or not the people who propose these “justifications” for the purposeful killing of another defenseless human being, recognize the reality or not, every argument in favor of abortions reduces the idea of “legitimacy” for human existence, to be one of CONVENIENCE; life is not a right, but a COMMODITY to be owned privately. Above, I mentioned Ireland as a “Christian” country. In that statement, I only intended to imply that “Christians” ought to understand an authority greater than themselves, that there is an ontic good and an ontic evil. However, I believe that I cannot stress too strongly, that being against abortions is not a position only to be understood by “believers”, and “non-believers” are to be excused. An ontic evil is a reality, the reality, the ontic evil of abortion, is that it strikes at the very sacredness of life and reduces it to a commodity, a social convenience. The reality of this should frighten everyone, believer and non-believer alike. To understand the true wrongness of abortion, one does not need to believe in any God. It boils down to a simple argument: If any person can determine the life or death of another person for any reason, without consequences, then no person is safe and the social order collapses into chaos. Throughout the ages, philosophers have struggled with the “how to’s” of creating a “perfect society, a perfect social order. From the early Greek philosophers to the more modern philosopher, the “perfect society” was to be formed through some form of “perfect government”. For the Church, “perfect societies” were only to be found in heaven; and on earth, the best humans could hope for, was “better societies” by way of being “better persons”. Unfortunately, for many centuries, the concept of becoming a “better person” was juxtaposed to obeying the laws of the Church. I believe that one of the greatest gifts the Second Vatican Council gave the Church and the world, is the notion that becoming a better person is becoming more Christ like in our thoughts, words, and actions. When we look into the 10 Commandments, the teachings of Jesus, we are continuously being reminded that we are a part of life’s web, not its center nor its creator. When we remove ourselves from the center of the purpose of life, the arguments for abortion dissolve for lack of substance. To be continued

PRAYER BLANKET MINISTRY
We are very, very appreciative for your continuing support of this ministry. Your donations have enabled us to assist many, many low income families who need assistance with baby/toddler items. From all of us to all of you, thank you andGOD BLESS YOU!
If possible, please donate:• A & D ointment• Stage 2 and 3 baby food – mixed fruit and/or vegetables with meat.
“Each time we reach out to assist another person, the blessing we are given is the opportunity to practice hospitality.”(Sr. Macrina Wiederkehr, O.S.B)
Schools out – for most children it’s the happiest time of the year playing, swimming, picnics, festivals and vacations. Yet there are a lot of children in our St. Isidore community that have lost their supplemental meals and being away from school can mean being hungry. There is no doubt that our request for food increases; yet our donations decrease as our parishioners enjoy their summer activities. Please remember those who need us for food while shopping this week.
Our Pantry really needs the following:• Women’s Depends - Large• Laundry Soap• Soups - all kinds• Spaghetti Noodles• Spaghetti Sauce - cans & jars• Jelly• Canned Fruit - all kinds• FrostingWe also need:• $25 Kroger & Meijer Gift Cards• Cereal• Crackers• Cookies• Candy• Mashed Potatoes - Box or Pouch• Rice-a-roni & pasta sides• Kleenex Tissues - any brand
We are grateful to all our parishioners who support our St. Isidore families. St. Vincent de Paul could not help without all of you.
ST VINCENT DEPAUL
BABY PANTRY
Our new ministry has many caring volunteers who pray for the future recipient. The blankets and shawls made by the volunteers will be blessed at an 8:00 A.M. Weekday Mass before they are given to parishioners for family members and friends who need comfort. These prayer blankets and shawls will be a symbol of St. Isidore’s faith-sharing prayers for the individual who receives it. We will let you know when the blankets/shawls are available. Please share this new ministry with others ~ Pat Schmeiser ~
ADORATION CHAPEL
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION TIME AND LOCATION CHANGE
As Vatican II taught, the Eucharist is “the source and summit of Christian life” (Lumen Gentium,11), most prominently at the Mass, of course, but also in Eucharistic Adoration. What Can be more important? (hprweb.com.June2018)The Worship Commission and the Parish Leadership Team would like to make you aware of changes to the Eucharist Exposition and Adoration Chapel hours and location.Beginning July 10, 2018, the Chapel will move to a more suitable location in the Resource Center (by the Rosary Garden entrance), near the beautiful stained-glass window depicting the Eucharist. This worship area will be available on Tuesdays from immediately following the 8 a.m. morning Mass until closing Benediction, which will begin at 6 p.m. There will no longer be Adoration hours on Wednesday and Thursday. The Holy Hour before morning Mass on Tuesdays and Fridays, which includes Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 7 a.m. to the beginning of Mass, remains unchanged. There need be no formal format to private Eucharistic Adoration. Say the Rosary or your favorite prayers, read scripture, talk to the Lord and share your burdens, or just sit in His presence and let Him speak to you.Feel free to stop in anytime; spend a few minutes or an hour, or, if you would like to sign up as a regular Adorer during any time period for the Tuesday hours there is a signup form at www.stIsidore.church/adoration-chapel or contact the office at 586-286-1700.Contact Dave Bisdorf at 586-202-7000 if you have any questions.
Curious about learning more about the Catholic faith but unsure where to start? Have you only been Baptized and are now ready to receive Confirmation and Holy Eucharist? Are you or someone you know ready to strengthen your relationship with God?Please join us after 9:30 mass in the gathering space for an informal chat about your journey!
