This number is expected to increase as climate change intensifies. 02. Climate Change to Low-Income New Yorkers: Drop Dead 03. Climate Change and Violence Linked, Breakthrough Study Finds 04. Every year we dump a massive 2.12 billion tons of waste. If all this waste was put on trucks they would go around the world 24 times. This stunning amount of waste is partly because 99 percent of the stuff we buy is trashed within 6 months. Prudence Production Purchase Peace 12. Aware mass people identify their own doings to face the future challenges. Involve mass people to address biggest challenge Climate Change, Global Warming sasrai is an approach aims to bring significant change in mindset, attitude and behavior. Each individual across the globe must have feeling, thinking and practicing-we must save resources for our old age also for our next generation. sasrai is an appeal to all lets we practice sasrai living, be less consuming, be keen in as less as possible consumption. We must present a habitable earth to our next generation who havent exploited any resources from earth. Road map towards the implementation of the United Nations Millennium Declaration - sasrai brings into focus Six MDGs, 09 time-bound targets and 31 quantitative indicators. Absolute truth for todays world careless consumption driving untenable production that driving changes in temperature and weather patterns and thats the Hotter and Hungry World. Hungry world will contribute millions of desperate people. Desperate people do desperate things: They riot, they fight over food, they overthrow governments, and the mass migrate to food-secure countries. Dear God, I promise I will never waste my food no matter how bad it can taste and how full I may be. I pray that He will protect this little boy, guide and deliver him away from his misery. I pray that we will be more sensitive towards the world around us and not be blinded by our own selfish nature and interests. A village in Chad, women are breaking apart anthills, searching for grain stored there by ants. As of 2011, 1.3 billion tons of food, about one third of global food production, are lost or wasted annually. There are nearly one billion malnourished people in the world, but the approximately 40 million tons of food wasted by US households, retailers and food services each year would be enough to satisfy the hunger of every one of them Prudence Production Purchase Peace 36. Some facts and figures The production of one kilogram of beef requires 15 thousand litres of water (93% green, 4% blue, 3% grey water footprint). There is a huge variation around this global average. The precise footprint of a piece of beef depends on factors such as the type of production system and the composition and origin of the feed of the cow. The water footprint of a 150-gram soy burger produced in the Netherlands is about 160 litres. A beef burger from the same country costs about 1000 litres. The water footprint of Chinese consumption is about 1070 cubic meter per year per capita. About 10% of the Chinese water footprint falls outside China. Japan with a footprint of 1380 cubic meter per year per capita, has about 77% of its total water footprint outside the borders of the country. The water footprint of US citizens is 2840 cubic meter per year per capita. About 20% of this water footprint is external. The largest external water footprint of US consumption lies in the Yangtze river basin, China. The global water footprint in the period 1996-2005 was 9087 Gm3/yr (74% green, 11% blue, 15% grey). Agricultural production contributes 92% to this total footprint. Water scarcity affects over 2.7 billion people for at least one month each year. Prudence Production Purchase Peace 44. The vast amount of food going to landfills makes a significant contribution to global warming. Roughly one third of the food produced in the world for human consumption every year approximately 1.3 billion tonnes gets lost or wasted. Every year, consumers in rich countries waste almost as much food (222 million tonnes) as the entire net food production of sub-Saharan Africa (230 million tonnes). The amount of food lost or wasted every year is equivalent to more than half of the world's annual cereals crop (2.3 billion tonnes in 2009/2010). Food loss and waste also amount to a major squandering of resources, including water, land, energy, labour and capital and needlessly produce greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to global warming and climate change. In developing countries food waste and losses occur mainly at early stages of the food value chain and can be traced back to financial, managerial and technical constraints in harvesting techniques as well as storage and cooling facilities. Thus, a strengthening of the supply chain through the support farmers and investments in infrastructure, transportation, as well as in an expansion of the food and packaging industry could help to reduce the amount of food loss and waste. In medium- and high-income countries food is wasted and lost mainly at later stages in the supply chain. Differing from the situation in developing countries, the behavior of consumers plays a huge part in industrialized countries. Moreover, the study identified a lacking coordination between actors in the supply chain as a contributing factor. Farmer-buyer agreements can be helpful to increase the level of coordination. Additionally, raising awareness among industries, retailers and consumers as well as finding beneficial use for save food that is presently thrown away are useful measures to decrease the amount of losses and waste. In the United States 30% of all food, worth US$48.3 billion (32.5 billion), is thrown away each year. It is estimated that about half of the water used to produce this food also goes to waste, since agriculture is the largest human use of water. (Jones, 2004 cited in Lundqvist et al., 2008) United Kingdom households waste an estimated 6.7 million tonnes of food every year, around one third of the 21.7 million tonnes purchased. This means that approximately 32% of all food purchased per year is not eaten. Most of this (5.9 million tonnes or 88%) is currently collected by local authorities. Most of the food waste (4.1 million tonnes or 61%) is avoidable and could have been eaten had it been better managed (WRAP, 2008; Knight and Davis, 2007). In the USA, organic waste is the second highest component of landfills, which are the largest source of methane emissions. Prudence Production Purchase Peace 45. Consumption of soft drinks leads to: Increased rates of bone fracture Increased risk for osteoporosis Increased risk of weight gain and obesity Increased risk for Type II Diabetes Increased risk for kidney stones Increased rate of tooth decay and other dental problems Prudence Production Purchase Peace 46. A critic just criticizes but a model shows the way. I am becoming a model of my beliefs. Prudence Production Purchase Peace 47. Junk food is food with a lot of fat or sugar, or both; chips or other fried foods. Junk food is not good for your body; it's either fattening or it can make you really sick however, you should keep in mind that all non junk foods are healthy Harmful Effects of Junk Food The regular consumption of junk food is the leading factor in obesity Obesity is second only to smoking as a cause of death in America. 46% of Canadian adults are either overweight or obese, Consumption of soft drinks containing sugar has been linked to weight gain and an increased risk for development of type 2 diabetes. Studies have revealed that obese people have twice the rate of chronic health problems as people of normal weight. This includes a 100% greater chance of developing Type 2 diabetes, 50% increased likelihood of developing heart disease. Obese men are nearly 90% more likely to get colon cancer. Junk food diet is a major cause of heart diseases. High cholesterol resulting from junk food puts undue strain on the liver, causing long-term damage to this essential organ. Research has suggested that diets high in fat may also impair essential brain functions, like concentration and memory. Prudence Production Purchase Peace 48. Change takes time, dedication, and most importantly, it takes leaders. The climate crisis can be solved, but only if each of us do our part. Lets raise our voice sasrai ONLY THE PATH TO SAVE MOTHER PLANET EARTH, NATURE. Its only the path to Eliminate Racial Discrimination - End violence against WOMEN and CHILDREN. sasrai only the path to end POVERTY, VULNERABILITY, HUNGER, DISASTER, CLIMATE Threat. Each second, minute, hour day needed to be spent considering earth, environment and humanity. We must get each child caring to each particle of food and resources. Wish the Peace, Justice, Dignity and Rights for all - save a bit, reserve, preserve, rejuvenate and conserve resources. Climate change threatens our planet, the world economy, and our lives -- and it will impact young people the most.
