    Configuration (1 of 5)

The configuration of validations are performed using T-code: UJ_Validationin BI-box.

The Driver Dimension is the dimension in each application that the validationrules will be created from. In most cases it is the Account Dimension (but itcan be any dimension).

An example where we want to check the Account dimension =MYAPP_ACC whenever a record is written to database. We wanted tocheck if the category is Plan it should allow certain accounts and if thecategory is Actual then it should allow accounts mentioned as per the rulecreated .

    Introduction

Drill-Through is an interface for Excel feature that allows detailed data froman external source to be viewed by clicking the drill through option from theaction pane from a cell in a report for which the drill through has beendefined.

An example we have a BPC report name called planned depreciation for the

next financial year at cost center level and we would like to see the actualdepreciation for the previous fiscal year, so in this case we can use drillthrough to BW report to see the actual at more detailed level.

In the BPC 10.0 NW version, drill through is available on any cell thatcontains the data. An administrator must configure drill through for the cell inorder to see its data.

You can drill through to the ECC level of data, to a URL or a BEx report.

There is a difference between the Drill Down and Drill-Through:Drill Down is used to drill down on member data within the dimension.

Drill Down is conducted within one report whereas Drill- Through is jump outside of theExcel Interface.

    Work Status: Introduction

Work Status allows you to lock a region (or slice) of data in a model. It isoptional for the customer.

The work status setting overrides a user's member access privileges to writeto a given region.

The work status is set up in the Administration view and is not process flow

    management.

After entering and saving the data, the users can adjust data and submit it.The administrator can then modify the work status for a specific data region. The work status feature enables to apply a label to a data region and lock itfor review, approval, and so on.

This locks the data region from being overwritten. During write-back, every

individual record is checked for work status, so each individual record thatfails a check is rejected.

    Work Status: Owner and Manager

You can choose the dimension that shall carry the OWNER property for awork status scenario.

Owner is a reserved property for work status.

The Owner is the user that is assigned to a dimension member of yourchoice. The manager of the owner is the owner value maintained on the

parent node of the owner member.

    Work Status: Basic settings

Set up data locking settings for each model. Minimum three and maximum five

dimensions from environment need to be configured for work status. The dimensions should be variable in your business process, such as entity, category, and time. Typically T dimension is a data locking dimension, sincedata is segregated based on time.

Dimensions such as account, data source, reporting currency, and so on, typically

remain static, so those are considered non-data locking dimensions. The dimension that contains Owner property must be defined as a data lockingdimension.

You can enable data locking and select the dimensions to lock the processcontext, or disable data locking.

You can define if the owner or the manager or both shall be able to set a work status for

a region of data. This is set in Work Status window for an environment .

In the figure above, you define who can change the data in the system:

All: All users with the appropriate member access rights can change data

Locked: No one can change the data.Manager: Only managers (parents of owners) can change data.

Owner: Only owners can change data.

A default work status exists as the first status which cannot be changed. It has aninternal code of 0 and is controlled by the Manager and Owner (Controlled by is set toOwner and Manager). In above screenshot, its Unlocked status.

The areas of Planning and Consolidation for which you can control the workstatus are:

Data Manager (DM): Controls data input from running a Copy, Import or Movepackage.

Journal (JRN): Controls data input from posting journal entries.

Manual Entry (MAN): Controls data input manually.Comments (COM): Controls data input from posting comments (unstructureddata).

Documents (DOCS): Controls posting documents with model context to theDocument view (unstructured data).

Work statuses (or work status codes) are defined for the entireenvironment (not per model). There is no limit to the number of codes youcan create, but there is a practical limit.

You can change the order of work status, but once you change it, thesystem deletes all locks for all models in the environment.
