As I write this column I am 7 weeks into my job and want to let everyone know some of the things we that will be kicking off the New Year. Before I do however I want to say Happy New Year to everyone and I hope all of you had a very Merry Christmas. I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we continue with the extensive remodeling effort and clean up to make our environment fresher and brighter. I ask that you continue to bear with us as we paint, clean, put new furniture into place and remodel many of the areas of our campus. We are kicking off the New Year with an enhanced employee recognition program. All non managerial staff will be able to be nominated for employee of the month. Look for golden sheets of paper in the front lobby, at the nurse’s stations and near the dining rooms for nomination forms. I highly encourage anyone to make a nomination – staff, residents and families alike. We will have a committee that will review the nominations and make the award each month. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate, signed certificate of recognition from their Supervisor and myself and their picture will be on display in the Employee of the Month area located on the entrance hallway. We hope that you will nominate staff who excel and go over and above in customer service, love and care in their daily work with our residents. Next we will start a fall reduction contest starting in January. We want to decrease the resident falls. Safety is most important to protect our residents and our customers from falls and injury. We need everyone’s help, so jump on board and help us make our Home a safer place. In 2016 we will strive to increase the customer service we give our residents and families and raise the bar of excellence here at Riverside. Happy New Year! Jerry Lindenbaum, Executive Director Santa’s Elf! Resident Council President John “Jack” Franklin was one of Santa’s elves this year. It was a frequent sight to see him spreading Christmas cheer to everyone throughout the holidays. Thanks To The Volunteers! Allison and Peggy with the Assistance League of Kansas City volunteered their time to enhance the holiday season for the residents. Residents recalled family traditions filled with happy memories during the cooking, decorating activity. Christmas Lights Drive One outing that is looked forward to during the holiday season is the annual Christmas Lights Drive. Whether you prefer the white sparkling lights or the brilliance of multi-colored there was something to fit everyone’s fancy. Happy New Year From All of Us! On this New Year we wish that you will have a wonderful January, a lovely February, a Peaceful March, a stress-free April, a fun-filled May, and Joy that lasts from June to November, and finally a happy December. May our wishes come true and may you have a charming and lucky New Year 2016.
