Santa’s Stocking This classic stocking is both decorative and functional! Being similar in size to most store bought stockings, they can comfortably fit all your stocking stuffers after ornamenting your mantle throughout the holiday season.  

 Skill: Beginner/Intermediate US Terms  Materials: 

● 140 yards of worsted weight yarn for your primary color ● 50 yards of worsted weight yarn for your accent color ● H Hook 5.00mm

Santa’s Stocking Crochet Pattern 

Toe (accent color) 

Row 1: MC, ch 3. 11 dc into mc. Join to top of ch 3. (12) 

Row 2: ch 3, dc in the same stitch. 2 dc in each of the next 11 stitches. Join (24) 

Row 3: ch 3, 2 dc in the next stitch. Repeat *dc, 2dc* around. Join (36) 

Row 4: ch 3, dc in the next stitch. 2 dc in the next stitch. Repeat *dc, dc, 2dc* around. Join (48) 

Row 5: ch 3, dc in each stitch around. Join (48) 

 

Foot (main color) 

Row 6: ch 3, skip 2 stitches. V stitch (dc, ch 1, dc in same stitch) in next stitch. Repeat *skip 2 stitches, V stitch in next stitch* around. Dc into base of ch 3, ch 1, and join to ch 3. (16 Vs) 

Rows 7-12: Sl st to ch 1 space in center of first V. Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1) and dc into same space. V stitch into the center ch 1 space of each V stitch of the prior row. Join to 3rd ch of beginning ch 4. (16 Vs) 

 

Heel (accent color) - ch 3 at beginning of each row does not count as a stitch 

Row 13: ch 3, dc in same space. Dc in next 27 stitches, treating each dc and ch of the V stitches in the prior row as separate stitches (3 dc across each V stitch). Turn. 

Row 14: ch 3, dc2tog, dc2tog, dc in the next 20 stitches, dc2tog, dc2tog. Turn (24) 

Row 15: ch 3, dc2tog, dc2tog, dc in the next 16 stitches, dc2tog, dc2tog. Turn (20)  

Row 16: ch 3, dc2tog, dc2tog, dc in the next 12 stitches, dc2tog, dc2tog. Turn (16)  

Row 17: ch 3, dc2tog, dc2tog, dc in the next 8 stitches, dc2tog, dc2tog. Turn (12)  

Row 18: ch 3, dc2tog, dc2tog, dc in the next 4 stitches, dc2tog, dc2tog. Turn (8)  

Row 19: ch 3, dc2tog, dc in next 4 stitches, dc2tog. Do not turn. (6) 

 

Ankle/Calf (main color) 

Row 20: ch 3. Evenly space 5 V stitches along the side of the triangle formed for the heel. V stitch in the center of each remaining Vs in row 12. Evenly space 5 V stitches up the opposite side of the triangle formed for the heel. V stitch at the edge and in the center of row 19. Dc into the base of the starting ch, ch 1, and join to top of starting chain to complete a V stitch. (You will finish with 20 V stitches - 5 down each side of the triangle, 3 across the top of the triangle, and 7 across the top of the foot/row 12.)

Row 21: Sl st to center of next V stitch. Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1) and dc into same space. V stitch into the center ch 1 space of the next 3 Vs. Dc into the center of each of the next 2 Vs. V stitch into the next 5 Vs. Dc into the center of each of the next 2 Vs. V stitch into the remaining 7 Vs. Join to 3rd ch of beginning ch 4. (16 Vs and 4 DCs) 

Row 22: Sl st to center of 1st V. Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1) and dc into same space. V stitch into the center of the next 3 Vs. V stitch in space between dc stitches. V stitch into next 5 Vs. V stitch in space between dc stitches. V stitch in remaining 5 Vs. Join. (18 Vs) 

Rows 23 - 43: Sl st to ch 1 space in center of first V. Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1) and dc into same space. V stitch into the center ch 1 space of each V stitch of the prior row. Join to 3rd ch of beginning ch 4. (18 Vs) 

Top (accent color) 

Row 44 - 45: ch 3, dc in each stitch around (treating each dc and ch of the V stitches in row 43 as separate stitches). Join. (54) 

Row 46: ch 3, dc in next 40 stitches. Ch 15 to create loop for hanging (if desired). Dc in next stitch and remaining stitches around. Join and finish off (54 dc + loop).
