Exiting: Pick up your stamped Pilot’s Passport prize. Airport Administration 3223 Donald Douglas Loop South Warning: This is an active airfield in full operation. Do not enter the runway and taxi areas. Things to do here…. Reserve your seat. Learn about the Airport’s history on the Airside Bus Tour. Leaves every ½ hour. 12:30 – 4:30. And places to see… Observation Decks The airport has two free and easily accessible viewing areas from which the public is invited to watch aircraft activity. Watch aircraft, take pictures, listen to the air and ground activity from the control tower. Typhoon Restaurant Typhoon’s dining room features unobstructed view of the airport runway, Pan- Asian cuisine and live jazz. Fire Engine Display Explore a City of Santa Monica Fire Department fire engine, and try on a fireman’s hat or boots. Administration Building Parking Lot. 2:00 PM – 3:30. Artists’ Reception View the soaring metal sculpture “Steel Pyramid” and meet the artists, David Milner and Travis Frankle. Airport Administration Building Lobby. 4:00 – 5:00. The Airport Avenue Demonstration Gardens are intended to help you set up one of your own. Enjoy at tour of the gardens with Russell Ackerman, City of Santa Monica Water Resources Specialist. 1:30 and 3:00. DC 3 Memorial Monument 3100 Airport Avenue This DC3 Aircraft was built at Santa Monica Airport in 1942. The bronze sculpture of Donald Douglas and his dog is by Santa Monica Art Studio artist, Yossi Gorvin. Museum of Flying 3100 Airport Avenue The Museum of Flying has a special focus on the history of fight, and the unique role of Santa Monica and Donald Douglas from the twenties to the sixties. Special Open House Admission: Free for children 12 and under and $5 for adults. Explore the cockpit at the Civil Air Patrol Squadron 51’s Cessna 182Q aircraft. Kids! Pilots’ Passport Chart your course and collect all four stamps along the way. Then fly back to an Information Booth to pick up your prize!
