RE: Santa Fe - Frisco Depot
Dear Jim:
As you know, the City of Paris is now the proud owner of the Santa Fe-Frisco Depot located at West Kaufman and 11^ Street S.W. in Paris.
We would like for the Depot to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is our understanding that the previous owner filed an objection to being included on the National Register.
We respectfully request that the objection filed by the previous owner be lifted and that the Depot be placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Thank you for all your help in obtaining the grant and making this dream for the citizens of Paris come true.
Sincerely,
Michael E. Malone City Manager

RE: l i f t ing of owner objection for Santa Fe-Frisco Depot (Historic Resources of Paris, Texas), 1100 W. Kaufman, Paris, Lamar County, Texas, formally determined eUgible 10/26/88
Dear Carol,
Attached please find the 4 June 1998 letter from Paris, Texas, City Manager Michael E. Malone, notifying the Texas State Historic Preservation Officer of the city's recent acquisition of their local Santa Fe-Frisco Depot.
When we nominated this building in 1986 as part of a multiple-resources nomination for the "Historic Resources of Paris, Texas," then-owner Burlington Northern Railroad objected to the Usting. Copies are attached of the nomination continuation sheet, objection letter, and notification of Determination of Eligibility. A photo of this magnificent building is also attached for your interest and orientation.
The new owner, City of Paris, now wishes that the objection to listing be lifted, and that the property be entered into the National Register of Historic Places. The SHPO, in turn , requests that you advance the 1988 formal Determination of Eligibility to f u l l privileges of listing in the National Register.
Thank you for your assistance with this long overdue recognition of the obvious significance of this building. Your positive response wil l play a large role in restoration of the property, and its much-awaited return to public service. Please let us know if you have any questions about this property and request.
Sincerely,
1 ^
James W. Steely, Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer
