Sir Monier Williams compilation of Sanskrt words in The Sanskrit English Dictionary has about 296511 entries under 48 akshara. The list can be segmented into the following 4 classes of akshara beginnings in the first iteration.
1. Class 1 - 10% and more - akshara beginning [sa], [va] and [pa]- 3 akshara2. Class 2 - 5%- <10% - akshara beginnings [a], [ka], [ma], [sha] - 4 akshara3. Class 3 - 1-5% - akshara beginnings [A],[u],[ga],[ca],[ja],[ta],[da],[dha],[na],[ba],[bha],[ya], [ra],[la], [ha]
15 akshara4. Class 4 - < 1% akshara beginning the remaining 26 akshara
