Announcement AEMP Art Contest New Thank you selected students from classes in Mr. Perez, Mrs. Yi, & Mrs. Mel. Espinoza for submitting an art entry for the AEMP Honoring Latinx Heritage Month Arts Contest. AEMP Awareness Week New Our participation in the Academic English Mastery Program (AEMP) is one way that we intentionally build those pathways. One of the goals of the Academic English Mastery Program is to validate and affirm our student’s culture as well as the language and vocabulary that our students already have, in order to build and bridge them to mastery of Standard Academic English. This week AEMP room will be open for teachers and students. See AEMP Week Calendar. Thank you teachers for all your hard work on implementing MELD/ALD. Social Emotional Learning NEW Teachers—Please incorporate the Standford Harmony kits that we received last year in your weekly lessons. It is essential that we help our students learn calming techniques and how to solve problems. If you have questions don’t hesitate to see me. Thank you. V. Lampros \ SWPBIS Review Maintain the 4:1 ratio of positive contact with students and families in order to build relationships. If parents have concerns, schedule time to speak with them regarding their concerns/questions. Send positive notes acknowledging student successes and efforts. When discussing student concerns, share resources for improvement. TLF 1b1, 1b4, 2d2, 3e1, 4b2. Thank you in advance for diligently working with our families. BIC Trash bags Review Teachers, please make sure you use the designated trash bags allocated by the cafeteria to dispose of BIC trash. The black plastic trash bags are to utilized for the outside trash cans only. Thank you for your cooperation. iPad Cart Rotation Review

Teachers- Please be advised that we will be down one iPad cart temporally which may impact your iPad cart schedule. We apologize for the inconvenience however we also are currently in the process of purchasing another iPad cart. Thank you. College Awareness Month Review October is College Awareness Month and it is essential we continue to prepare students to attend college or other post -secondary educational programs. To support this goal- we are asking staff members to consider the following activities that can be done: Role Models- bring graduation photographs (We graduated, You Can Too. Wear Your Alumni Attire (Fridays); College Comparisons (UCLA vs USC [cost]); Bulletin Board Project (use one of your bulletin boards for college information with campus pictures) and taking a class picture next to our Distance from San Miguel Ave. Mural. BIC Try to maintain a 15-20 minute BIC program. Remember to check off the names of students who eat breakfast on your class roster located in a pocket on the cart. Pour out any remaining liquid from cartons before throwing them in the trash bag. Insist that students clean their desks and floor of any food or trash from breakfast.
