1 2015 Art Showcase Featuring Works of Local Artists with Disabilities Co-Sponsored by: San Mateo County Board of Supervisors San Mateo County Commission on Disabilities On Exhibit Thursday, October 1 st through Tuesday, October 20th, 2015 REQUEST FOR ENTRIES (RFE) Vision: The purpose of this Art Showcase is to highlight the abilities of people with disabilities in San Mateo County. This will be an excellent opportunity for artists with disabilities to exhibit their work and bring about greater disabilities awareness in our community. Eligibility: Any artist with a disability residing in San Mateo County is eligible. A “person with a disability” as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) means a person who has a limitation in one or more activities of daily living, including but not limited to, walking, seeing, hearing, breathing and caring for one’s personal needs. Deadline for Entries: Friday, July 10, 2015 Medium: Two dimensional (picture) works of art meeting the follow requirements: * Must be mounted to hang at time of Show * If framed-must use plexiglass only (no glass) * Must be wired for hanging (no sawtooth hangers) * Minimum size is 18 in. x 18 in. (18 inches on any one side) * Maximum size is 2 feet x 3 feet. (We do not have secure exhibit space available for three dimensional works of art) Entry Requirements: 2 entries per artist will be allowed. Artists must submit the following: 1. Completed Entry Form (see attached) 2. 8 ½ x 11 (preferred) photo or computer printed image of the piece of art to be entered (please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you wish the photo to be returned)

Selection Process: Selection will be from photos only. A panel of artists and others will

jury entries, and those selected will be displayed in the Art Showcase. No awards will be given;

however, there will be a silent auction for artists interested in selling their work.

Selected Works: Notification of selected works will provide the details for drop-off and

pick up of artwork. Selected works must match submitted photos. Alterations will

automatically disqualify the work. No substitutions will be accepted. Pieces which are

purchased at the Silent Auction will be taken by the purchaser on the evening of the Silent

Auction. All other artwork must be must be removed from the venue of the Silent Auction by

the artist or sponsoring agencies at the close of the Silent Auction. There are no exceptions.

Insurance: While all possible care is taken with each piece of art, insurance and liability is the

responsibility of the artist. The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, the San Mateo County

Commission on Disabilities, and the venue sponsors of the Art Showcase assume no

responsibility or liability for the artwork displayed in the Art Showcase.

Consent & Release for Silent Auction/Image of Artwork

As a way to give artists more exposure and opportunities to sell their work, we

will be having a Silent Auction of the selected artwork (if for sale) during the

Art Showcase Artists’ Reception. If the artist chooses to participate, artists

will be obligated to accept final bids which may be less than their asking price,

but meet the minimal acceptable bid as indicated on the entry form. All

proceeds from the final sale price will be given to the artist and their

sponsoring agency. If artwork is sold, payment would go through the

sponsoring agency to pay the artist. If the artist does not have a sponsoring

agency, then the artist will need to complete W-9 Form to receive payment.

Participating artists (or their Legal Guardians) in the Silent Auction will need
