Brief History of the Church
San Juan Nepomuceno church was established in June 15, 1965. Originally, the church was from the Parish of San Roque and was led by the parish priest, Padre Pulagio Camahalan in 1953. The people of Malibay were active in serving God and in fulfilling their duties as Catholics, but the number of people grew larger as time passed by. The governing body of the parish decided to establish a separate community that would have their own. The first priest who celebrated the mass and held a confirmation in the established parish in Malibay was Rufino Cardinal Santos.
The way in establishing a separate and independent parish in Malibay was hard and timely but there were people who helped and contributed a lot to make things possible, some of the sponsors were Ferdinand Marcos, President of the Senate, and Mrs. Fernando Lopez.
San Juan Nepomuceno church reached its full progress in February 21, 1965 and the first parish priest was Msgr. Carlos S. Inquimboy. And there is also Rev. Pde. Antonio Tobias whom he worked with in leading the community and in serving the Lord.
Now, there are 65,000 people in Malibay and 90% are proud Catholics.

Patron Saint : San Juan Nepomuceno
John of Nepomuk (or John Nepomucene) is a
national saint of the Czech Republic, who was
drowned in the Vltava river at the behest of
Wenceslaus, King of the Romans and King of
Bohemia. Later accounts state that he was the
confessor of the queen of Bohemia and
refused to divulge the secrets of the
confessional. On the basis of this account,
John of Nepomuk is considered the first martyr
of the Seal of the Confessional, a patron
against calumnies and, because of the manner
of his death, a protector from floods.

PROPHETIC MINISTRIES: To form the hearts and minds of our parishioners - beginning with the leaders, according to the teachings of the church (i.e. Catechism of the Church, the Bible and Social teachings)
