Current Network
The Department of Technology (DT) is providingWiFi to the residential area of Treasure Island.
The current network provides coverage forapproximately 60% of the area with 18 Cisco AccessPoints (APs).
(APs) were donated by Cisco to the Treasure IslandHomeless Development Initiative (TIDHI)
Problems with current network
• Not enough APs
– 18 APs do not provide enough coverage forresidential area of TI
• The Internet speed is insufficient to satisfycurrent demand
– Current Internet bridge is from Clay/Jones to 2bridges installed on Light Poles on TI.
– TI aggregated Internet speed (Backhaul) has beenaround 20mb/s
Current WiFi deployment onTreasure Island
Install 30 additional APs on TI
– New APs will provide more coverage for residents.
– Denser footprint will allow faster Internet speedbetween APs and residents
– DT is covering the expense out of its base budget(80k)

Increase aggregated Internet speed (Backhaul)to 200 Mb/s 10 X faster than before
– Install AirFiber (24GHz) radio link between roof ofOne Market Plaza and SFFD station 48
– AirFiber link will be connected to a switch on theCommunity Broadband Network.
Note: Will also install a new 5Ghz radio toprovide redundancy to TI.
Tasks needed to strengthen WiFion Treasure Island
• Install and align new wireless bridges at OneMarket and on new pole at fire station
• Update electrical at SFFD 48 support newnetwork equipment
• Install/configure Cisco 3750’s at OMP andStation 48
• Install/configure new WLC at SFFD 48
• Install AP’s on TI light poles and new pole atSFFD 48
