Father Tilly: Campaign is designed to give players agreater “feel” for the different phases of the ThirtyYears War. Ofcourse it depends on the number of units/figures thatplayershave,butagoodsizedforcecanbecreatedwith1500points. If there ismore thanoneplayerper sidethis amount can be increased (with the agreement ofbothsides).

The force that players create will not be used in itsentiretyeachbattle. It is suggested thateach sidebelimited to a maximum of 1000 points per battle. Thisgives a decent sized game that doesn’t last too long.Playerscanofcourseincreasethisamountordecreaseitiftheyfindthattheyhavemoreorlessplayingtimeavailabletothem.Whatthismeansisthatplayerswillnot be using their entire army each battle. Once players have organised their army for the nextbattletheycancalluponanumberof“reserve”troops(fromoneoftheir“reserve”options).Thesetroopsdonot “cost” in the same way that troops shown on themainarmylists, theyareanadditionalforce, thesizeofwhichisrandomlydeterminedbeforeeachbattle.

Players should include the name of their own generalamongthenamesoftheirunits.Generalswerelikelyalsotobecolonelsoftheirownregimentsandthesewouldoftenaccompanythemintobattle(ledbyaLieutenantColonel).

GeneralsItisassumedthateachplayerwillberepresentedbyageneralfigure.Thisfiguredoesnot incurapointcost.However,playersareentitledtofieldextrageneralsbutthesewillcostanextra100pointseach.

If a campaign involvesmore thanoneplayerper side, theneachplayerwillbeentitledtofielda“freegeneral”

Ifmorethanoneplayerisplayingperside, therankingofeachgeneralwillhavetobeestablished.Eachplayerrolls a d6, the player that rolls the highest score willbe the highest ranking general followed by the lowerscoring players in descending order. If a drawn scoreis the result, then these players will have an equalranking. The player controlling the senior general willbe responsible for issuing orders at the start of thebattle and will determine where subordinate generalscan deploy their troops. When there are commandinggenerals of equal rank, the controlling players can beresponsible for issuing their ownordersorplayers canagreethatonewilltakecommandfortheforthcomingbattle(withtheoptionofpossiblyalternatingcommandduringlaterbattles).
