BRIEF Bio-data

ANKIT TYAGI, M.A ENGLISH, NET-JRF, PhD

SCHOLAR - After completing his Bachelors in

English (hons.) from Delhi University. He did his

masters in English from Hindu College, Sonepat

(MDU).

UGC-NET/JRF is considered as one of the

toughest exams in India. Mr. Ankit Tyagi had

qualified both NET and JRF in first attempt with

80% marks. He is currently working towards the

PhD degree in English at SRM University, Sonepat,

Haryana under the supervision of Dr. Sushil Kumar

Mishra.

He is also getting a handsome amount of

fellowship from UGC for qualifying JRF (Junior

Research Fellowship). He has attended various

National and International Conferences and

Seminars.

He has also published dozens of International

Research papers. He is very fond of composing

poetry by using rich and strong Vocabulary.

He has written three renowned books “Entitled:

Be yourself, Find yourself‟‟ [2016] ,Romantic

poems, “A Holy Untouchable‟[2016] A play

which appeals to abolish caste sytem, Shattered

Dreams [2016] A play which makes a plea to

abolish child labor, child abuse and child marriage.

Mukesh Duhan [MD] is an introvert college student.

novel reveals the story of modern Lovers who are

impatient and aggressive at the initial stage. But

somewhere things fall apart. Love is surely not a

one sided traffic or it is not about spending quality

time with your paramour or beau. It‟s all about

and facing ups and downs of life together.

Lovers need to fulfill their commitments. For

It’s a remedy and a boon.

1 W Make haste, you are already late M.D; it‟s your

first day in college. „What is this?‟ „Are you

planning to go in such guise?‟ My mom said

„What‟s wrong mom?‟ it‟s a latest trend. I

bought this trouser for 2300 rupees. After

scrounging the entire kamala market I got this

foxy color. I said

„Is it a foxy color for you?‟ Mom tittered

Okay, “ do you remember the wordings of your

father?”

“Abstain cacoethes and bad company”

Yes, I know mom, I am not a kid. I said

„Who said you are not a kid?‟ you are more

credulous than a kid my dear son. Mom said

Come on mom, I can tackle everything, no

longer I am a school going gullible lad. I am going

to begin a new trekccc From today. So, wish me

luck and give your benediction. I said

My mom sang a touching poem for me which

made me namby pamby

The poem was:

“Mother’s Benediction is divine,

It keeps you always shine.

It helps you attain elevations,

This will be twice of estimations”.

“Mother’s Benediction is eternal,

It won’t vanish till her funeral.

She sacrifices her entire life,

For the sake of her tike”.

“Mother’s Benediction is precious treasure,

This is solution for every hassle.

Her love is remedy for every wound,

This is nowhere else to be found”.

“Mother’s Benediction showers zeal,

This gives a pleasant feel.

You are my vanity,

You are my strength,

My love for you is too immense”, My Dear son.

“Your mollycoddle is rare and apart,

My dear mom, you are my sweetheart”

I said with a heavy heart

Well, I foresee that you‟ll get your sweetheart

soon. Mom said and laughed

Very funny, now can I leave? I said

Yes, why not? Go and have fun .mom

I hold my bag and begin to move. She came to

the door to see me off.

“Don‟t forget to kowtow your pedagogues” she

shouted and said

I frowned and said “its 2009, Hi… hello is the

latest trend. Gone those days of kowtow, Mom”

She nodded while peering me.

Take care. Mom shouted

You too mom, while raising my hand I left for

college.

2 W ‘What‟s your name?‟ professor mishra said

Sir, I am Mukesh Duhan

„Where do you put up?‟

Sir, I m dweller of sonipat

„Why you preferred English honors ahead of

other courses?‟ prof. mishra said

Sir, I am from commerce background. When I

was in 11th

standard my parents asked me to opt

science stream but I was too flimsy in it. I did not

opt humanities because of social disgrace, most of

my softy and duffer friends took admission in

humanities. So, I just want to prove them that I am

slightly superior to them. So, I preferred to choose

commerce. But unfortunately, my heart came in my

mouth, when I saw the giant books of Accountancy

and Economics, to a greater extent they were

similar to mathematics. And I m afraid to say the

fact that “Mathematics is my biggest fear”

Somehow I managed to attain adequate marks

by the grace of some cooperative invigilators and

my buddies who helped me out in my board exam.

Now I don‟t want to entangle in the same wheel by

choosing B.com. So, I preferred English honors. I

said

Professor Mishra tittered, followed by the class.

You may have opted B.A Program., it is too

coherent as compared to English honors.

„Have you ignored it merely because of social

disgrace?‟ Professor mishra said

The entire class cackled at me.

No, sir this is not the reason. I am a sort of lad

who prefers hallucination ahead of reality.

Secondly, I had also heard that English

literature is all about love stories and Romance. I

said

Most of the students broke into laughter, many

sniggered.

Professor mishra glared at me and said, so, you

took admission in English honors to read love

stories and ballads. Isn‟t it?

Students broke into loud and cheap laughter as

if I have said something lewd.

No, sir not at all. I am sorry but I think you are

misinterpreting my words. I took admission in

English honors because I want to study fiction. I

said

English honors is not merely about ballads and

love stories. Students have a huge misconception

about this much hyped course.

Let me tell you there are not only ballads and

stories but a lot more to study like, theatre, essays,

prose, poems, articles, historical background etc.

If you enjoy love stories, then it will be

absolute boredom for you because there are

elements of philosophy psychology and history. So,

dear, you will have to study a lot about historical

movements and draconian theories like

psychoanalysis. There is a deep theme of study of

human nature.

Prostitution, sex, rape etc are an inevitable part

of the syllabus. Plus, you just don‟t have to study

books but you have to think, analyze and criticize.

English honors will surely transmogrify you.

This course can bring complete makeover of your

vision of the world, and that make over will be a

positive one. After graduation, either you will be a

psychical, skeptic or man hater .But if you are a real

aficionado of literature then you will never repent

Professor mishra said

Thank you so much sir for clearing my doubts.

Now I realize that English honors is not a “piece of

cake”. Surely I will do diligence .I said

You don‟t have any other alternative my Dear

student. What you need is only dedication and

perseverance. Professor mishra said

3 W ‘Hi‟ bro, I have been observing you since

morning. You are very aloof and taciturn lad.‟ isn‟t

it?‟ Ravi said

No, it‟s not like that, actually it‟s my first day

in college and everyone is interloper for me. I said

„Do you remember me?‟ Ravi said

Well, sorry but I have never seen you before. I

said, while scrounging his face.

Oh! My Goodness. He said with a smile and

sat on the ground adjacent to me.

Dude, today you sat with me in the first two

lectures and you even asked me for the text book

and syllabus. Ravi said

Really? I asked with a mild smile

Actually, I was indulged in my own

hallucinations, perhaps I have not noticed you. I

said

So, you mean to say that you have not even

noticed those pulchritudinous hot girls of our class

who were sitting on the front benches and seducing

all the boys of our class with their lethal figure.

Ravi said and broke into a loud laughter.

„Nice to meet you „, you are so wacky. I said

with a smile

Nice to meet you too brother. Ravi said while

shaking hand with me.

You are so dapper and you also like love stories

as you said in class.

„How many girlfriends do you have?‟ Ravi

asked

That‟s the real problem, girls have their own

perception. Like you, they also probably have the

same belief that if I look dapper then surely I have

many girlfriends. But the excruciating and the harsh

reality is this that I am fifty percent single and I

need another 50 percent to make it absolute

hundred percent. I said with a smile

Well, I am just kidding, right now I don‟t want

any girlfriend. Wordings of professor mishra are

constantly hovering in my ears. There is no

alternative for English honors except diligence. I

said

Come on dude, don‟t talk like a child. Having a

girlfriend is not only about romance but it‟s also

about having a great amity too. A man may share

his personal issues with her that he would not

otherwise with others, and this may help to relieve

the stresses and pressures that life presents. Ravi

said

I am going to give you an honest answer „I

Love myself a lot, and I find I‟m my own best

company. I‟d rather put all my efforts and energy

into making myself a polished man. And secondly,

I can‟t find a right girl yet. I said

asked with a mild smile

My expectations are too high, dude

My dream girl is hard to find at least on this

planet. I said and laughed

Okay, do you have a Girlfriend? I asked

I am not a heartthrob like you. Girls usually

frown at me. I don‟t have adequate demands, I‟ll be

more than happy even if I get an unprepossessing

girl but she should be seductive with a massive

figure. Ravi said with a loud laughter

You seems philanderer to me .I said and

4 W One week later

“Porphyria‟s lover” by Robert browning is a poem

which deals with the subject of love. Porphyria‟s

lover is presented in the form of a Dramatic

monologue in which the speaker is a lover who has

an abnormal, if not insane mind telling the story of

how he killed his own mistress. The lover does not

speak to anyone. He has just committed a murder

but sits mildly waiting for divine intervention.

The lover looks up at porphyria‟s eyes feeling

happy and proud because at last she had admitted

her feelings and passion for him. Her confession

somewhat surprised him but it also made his heart

swell and he begins to wonder about what he ought

to do. He however realizes that a show of affection

will not last forever. This was the moment when she

belonged to him completely in all her beauty,

goodness and purity.

To preserve this moment for eternity he winds

all her hair in one long yellow string three times

round her throat and strangles her to death. Now

on the basis of your understanding tell me, „what

are your views about this psychical lover?‟
