1 The Vocabulary of

Handwriting

A. Zones

There are 3 Zones in Handwriting

1. Upper Zone 2. Middle Zone 3. Lower zone.

In the below example of word Say.

S- Bizonal letter is occupying the Upper zone and

Middle zone

a) Formation of Letters

Each letter has a specific shape, for legible writing

once has to master it well. Letter formation

improves by practicing it repeatedly.

In this section, each capital and small letter are

handwritten image is shown with theory to form it.

Kindly go through this in detail and practice it. This

is the major contributor for good handwriting.

Note: W and X can be written in two shapes.

Capital A-Begin at baseline with a gentle curve,

create inverted V and drop to baseline and retrace

and form a horizontal loop.

Small a-Begin at the top of the midzone inscribe an

expanded oval and end with gentle garland.

Capital B-Inscribe a stick lift the pen from the top

create an arc to the right, then another beneath it,

with top one little bit smaller than the bottom.

Finish lower arc with gentle internal rightward

stroke, and close the letter at baseline

Small b-Inscribe a stroke to the top of the upper

zone, make a vertical loop as you bring back gentle

garland and end with small horizontal loop.

Capital C-Begin on top of the upper zone an create

an arc, three quarter circle open to the right.

Small c-Same as a capital, occupying only Middle

Zone.

Capital D-Make the stick, pick up the pen and

inscribe full arc and end with a gentle internal

rightward stroke.

Small d-Begin at middle zone, make an oval, go to

the top and retrace back and end with gentle

garland. Ensure no loops, loops will make you

sensitive to criticism.

Capital E-Beginning at the top of the upper zone,

inscribe two arcs of equal size, ending on the

baseline.
