PROJECT OVERVIEWYou are a college student currently enrolled in an introductory business class. Your assignment is to prepare a short research paper (275–300 words) about video or computer games. The requirements are that the paper be presented according to the MLA documentation style and

have three references. One of the three references must be from the Web. You prepare a paper that discusses game controllers.

Instructions1. Log on to SAM2010. Course.com

2. Click on SAM Assignments

3. Click on the Word Chapter 2 Project 1 link

4. In the Starting Documents Area, Click on hyperlink with the file name (your name is part of this)

5. Click on File, Save As

6. Save the file as Open the file SC_Word2010_C2_L1a_FirstLastName_1.docx and save the file as SC_Word2010_C2_L1a_FirstLastName_2.docx before you move to the next step.

7. Look at the bottom of the page to Vverify that your name appears in the footer at the bottom of the document. If it does not, please download a new copy of the start file from the SAM Web site. (Note: Do not edit the footer at the bottom of the document.)

8.[2.] Find the Normal Style on the ribbon. Right mouse click on it and select Modify

font to 12-point Times New Roman font,

. When your research paper is complete, the entire paper should be double-spaced.

Click OK.

10.[3.] Back in your document, click on the drop-down arrow next to the Line and Paragraph Spacing button on the bottom row of the Paragraph Group, and choose Remove Space After Paragraph.

11.[4.] Right-click on the Normal Style button and choose Update Normal to Match Selection

13. Click on Header. Select the Blank header

14. Change the alignment to right. Create a right-aligned header that includes the name Type Kimble followed by a space.

15. , and Insert a Plain page number in the current position. (Hint: Click on the Design tab under Header and Footer Tools; click on the Page Number command, then Current Position, then Plain Number). Close the header.

Center the title as shown in Figure 1. Type the following report:

From One Controller to Another

Video games and computer games use a game controller as the input device that directs movements and actions of on-screen objects. Two commonly used game controllers are gamepads and motion-sensing game controllers. Game controllers not only enrich the gaming experience but also aid in the movements and actions of players.

A gamepad is held by the player with both hands, allowing the player to control the movement or actions of the objects in the video or computer games. Players press buttons on the gamepad, often with their thumbs, to carry out actions. Some gamepads have swiveling sticks that also can trigger events during game play. Some gamepads include wireless capabilities; others connect via a cable directly to the game console or a personal computer.

Motion-sensing game controllers allow the user to guide on-screen elements or trigger events by moving a handheld input device in predetermined directions through the air. These controllers communicate with a game console or personal computer via wired or wireless technology. A variety of games, from sports to simulations, use motion-sensing game controllers. Some of these controllers, such as baseball bats and golf clubs, are designed for only one specific kind of game; others are general purpose. A popular general-purpose, motion-sensing game controller is Nintendo’s Wii Remote. Shaped like a television remote control and operated with one hand, the Wii Remote uses Bluetooth wireless technology to communicate with the Wii game console.

Game controllers are used primarily to direct movement and actions of on-screen objects. Two popular types are gamepads and motion-sensing game controllers. Games become more enjoyable everyday with the use of new and exciting game controllers. What will be next?

[7.] Select the body of the document (Starting at Video games and computer ... to the end). Click on the Paragraph Dialog Box Launcher and turn on the 0.5” first line indentation. (Hint: click on the drop-down arrow next to Special)

18. At the beginning of a new, left-aligned line, set the First Line Indent marker to the .5” mark. When your research paper is complete, the body paragraphs of the research paper should all have a first-line indent of 0.5”.

[11.] Click on the References tab. Change the bibliography style to MLA 6th edition.

Click at the end of the second sentence in the first body paragraph, after the phrase “motion-sensing game controllers” and before the period, type a space, and then insert a citation to the Joyce bibliographical source shown in Figure 3. (To insert a citation, click on the References tab, then Insert Citation, then Add New Source.) Click OK when finished to close the Edit Source window.

[21.] At the end of the last sentence in the third body paragraph, after the phrase “Wii game console” and before the period, type a space, and then insert a citation to the Bloom bibliographical source shown in Figure 7.

22. Edit the Bloom citation in the third paragraph to display pages 56-59 at the end of the citation. The three body paragraphs you typed so far, and the citations you inserted and edited, should look like Figure 8.

[23.] Go to the end of the document. Type the fourth body paragraph of the research paper by entering the text shown in Figure 9.

26. Rather than typing the sources,Click on the References tab, click on Bibliography, and use thethe Insert Bibliography command in the Bibliography gallery to insert the list of sources.

27. Click on the bibliography text and press CTRL+SHIFT+F9 to Cconvert the bibliography field to regular text (Hint: Use CTRL+SHIFT+F9).

29. Change the format of the underlined source titles from underline to italics

30. (to match the latest guidelines for MLA documentation). Enter the media tType the text Print. at the end of the Bloom and Cortez sources

31. Type the text , and enter the media type Web. to the Joyce source before the “28 Mar” date (again to match the new MLA documentation style). Your bibliography should look like Figure 10.

35. In the Grade Submission section, click on Browse.

36. Find the file you just created and double-click on it

37. Click on the Submit button. Follow the directions on the SAM Web site to submit your completed project.
