description

Throughout our lives we are often told that we need salvation from our sins but we are often confused about what sin is, its impact on our lives, and why need salvation from it. Sin is characterized as being off the mark, there is no morality assigned to it but rather it is the simple fact of missing the bull’s-eye. We fall in it by being selfish and choosing to make decisions based on what we see fit for ourselves. The antidote to sin is salvation which is provided through Christ. If we look in the New Testament what we find is not a single way of understanding the saving work of Christ, not a single, systematic theory, but we have a whole series of images and symbols set side by side. They are symbols of profound meaning and power, yet for the most part they are not explained but left to speak for themselves. If we want to understand the work of Christ, it is better to follow what the New Testament does and to have a number of different images in our mind.
