AIMS OF THE PRESENT

INVESTIGATION1. Investigating the effects with five parameters viz. pH, temperature, catalyst, U: F molar ratio and the duration of the reaction.

2. Preparation and characterization of basic components.

3. Detail FTIR analysis.4. To explore the complexity of the

structures.5. Co-relate molecular structure with

PREPARATION METHOD

Raw materials: Urea, Formaldehyde (37-40%).135cm3

Adjusting pH in 7.5-8.0 of the solution

SUMMURY OF MY PROJECT1. The results of the typical urea formaldehyde

resin synthesized in acidic media, particularly that of pH 3.5, showed features in their (FTIR) spectra.

2. The synthesized UF resin is insoluble in water showing good resistance against acids, alkalis and various organic solvents.

3. The structural analysis of the UF resin sample was investigated through Fourier transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR).

CONCLUSION1. An extension of the chemometric study to

permit optimization of the experimental conditions for the production of urea-formaldehyde resins having desired properties.

2. Infrared spectra of UF resin show differences in the chemical structure of conventionally synthesized UF resin, Urea and Formaldehyde.
