PRODUCTION: The first ad will be created at no cost; subsequent changes will cost $25.

PLACEMENT: Specific ad locations within Marketplace are available, on a first-come first-served basis, at a 20% premium.

PAYMENT: Prepayment by Mastercard, Visa or check is required by published prepayment deadline. To qualify for frequency discounts, advertisers must prepay three issues at a time.

CONTRACT FULFILMENT: Failure to complete a contract will result in short billing, with the advertiser charged the difference in rate between the actual number of advertisements and the contracted number. For example, if an advertiser runs only seven ads on a 12-time contract, the rate reverts to the 6-time rate.

RATES: Rates are subject to change with 30-day written notice. 12-time advertisers are guaranteed a frozen rate for the duration of their schedules.

DEADLINES: Ad materials must be received by pubished issue deadlines. Cancellations and copy chang-es must be in writing, and are due by the same deadlines.

CREDITS: In the event that a published ad contains an error for which the publisher is responsible, Rhode Island Monthly Communications, Inc. will limit its liability to an advertising space credit if requested, for only the portion of the ad which may be in error. Advertiser must notify publisher of error in writing within 10 days of publication.

CIRCULATIONRhode Island Monthly’s circulation is audited twice yearly by BPA Interna-

tional.The average monthly paid circulation is approximately 40,000. This includes

copies sent to subscribers and copies sold on newsstands throughout Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts. The number of readers per month is significantly more than this due to multiple readers per household, pass-along rates, and readership in professional o�ices, etc.

PREMIUM PLACEMENTCover placements are typically booked 6-12 months in advance of issue dead-

lines. Please speak with your marketing representative as soon as possible. Cover placements, once reserved, may not be cancelled beyond 60 days prior to issue space reservation deadline.

Specific ad locations, such as far-forward placement and editorial column ad-jacencies, are available at a 20 percent premium. Premium placement locations are typically booked 3-6 months in advance of issue deadlines. Please speak with your marketing representative as early as possible.

Placement of ads in Rhode Island Monthly, other than premium placement, is based on factors such as timing of receipt of confirmed order, volume of con-tract, size/color of ad, etc. Ad placements are rotated throughout the magazine from issue to issue.

PRODUCTION CHARGESRhode Island Monthly Communications, Inc. will charge prevailing rates for:» ad composition, artwork, scans and resizing of incorrectly sized artwork» changes to approved ads made after files have been released to printerRhode Island Monthly Communications, Inc. will charge an archiving and CD/

disk fee for requested ad retrievals for use in non-Rhode Island Monthly Communications, Inc. publications.

DISCOUNT AND PAYMENT POLICIESFrequency: Frequency discounts of up to 37% o� the one-time rate are

granted to advertisers who authorize a frequency program in advance of placing advertising.

Agency Commission: Recognized agencies are allowed a commission of 15 percent of gross billing if they supply camera-ready art, in accordance with the publication’s material requirements. The commission is calculated on the space charges only. The commission is allowed if the account is paid within 30 days. Commissions are not given on other charges such as reprints, color, position, inserts, special binding, or trimming.

Recognized agencies are those who:» represent the interests of multiple advertisers (in-house agencies are not

commissionable)» handle all communication with the publication on behalf of their advertisers,

including booking of ad space» provide camera-ready art» are responsible for payment of all related invoices

Credit: Credit is extended only upon approval of credit application. Credit ap-plication must be submitted no later than five business days before issue space reservation deadline.

Payments: All payments are due within 10 days of invoice date. Accounts unpaid after 30 days are subject to loss of discounts & advertising privileges, and the imposition of 1.5 percent per month finance charge on the unpaid balance.

DEADLINESSpace Reservations & Ad Materials: A printed deadline schedule is available.

Please ask your marketing representative for one.Cancellations: Cancellations for covers are not accepted beyond 60 days

prior to issue space reservation deadline. Cancellations for all other ads are not accepted beyond issue space reservation deadline, as indicated in the printed deadline schedule.

GENERAL POLICIESFrequency discounts are earned by placing ads in six or more issues within a

twelve-month period, beginning with the first insertion. The three-time frequency discount is given to advertisers who run ads in three consecutive issues.

Frequency discounts are based on the number of issues in which advertise-ments are run within a contract year. Multiple insertions in a single issue count as one insertion.

Failure on the part of the advertiser to run advertising at the level contracted for shall cause all advertising that did run to be subject to a Short Rate, equiva-lent to the di�erence between the amount billed and the earned rate. For ex-ample, if the client runs only four ads on a six-time contract, the rate would revert to the earned three-time rate. This Short Rate is not subject to agency discount.

Advertisers may vary sizes within a frequency contract. 1/12 page ads are available only to restaurants.

Orders accepted are subject to rate change on 30 days advance notice from the publisher.

Advertisers are held responsible for advertising space and associated produc-tion fees in the event that an advertiser’s agency defaults on payment due Rhode Island Monthly Communications, Inc.

Acceptance of all advertising and copy is subject to the approval of the publisher. Rhode Island Monthly Communications, Inc. reserves the right to reject or cancel advertising which is deemed unacceptable, either because of objectionable material or artwork of inferior quality. The publisher is not liable for damages, if for any reason the ad fails to be placed. All advertisements are accepted and published upon representation that the agency and/or advertiser is authorized to publish the entire contents or subject matter thereof. In consider-ation of the publisher’s acceptance of such advertisements for publication, the agency and/or advertiser assumes liability for any claim based upon the contents or subject matter of such advertisements, including, without limitation, claims for suits of libel, violation of right of privacy, plagiarism, and copyright infringement. Per inquiry advertising is not accepted. No space may be purchased for resale.

Submission of copy is the responsibility of the advertiser. Copy from last inser-tion will be run if new copy is not received by closing dates.

In the event that a published ad contains an error for which the publisher is responsible, Rhode Island Monthly Communications, Inc. will limit its liability to an advertising space credit, if requested, for only that portion of the ad which may be in error. In the event of any default or indebtedness, the advertiser agrees to pay all reasonable costs and attorney fees incurred by Rhode Island Monthly Communi-cations, Inc. in the collection of the debt.
