Ice That ArmSalisbury junior quarterback John Dunbar led the Sea Gulls from behind on October 4against St. John Fisher, completing a career-best 10-of-14 passes for a career-high 149yards. Dunbar completed two of those passes on Salisbury’s game-tying drive at theend of regulation, with the passes of 23 and 17 yards each going for first downs.

Hook, Line, And Touchdown! In the triple-option offense, the ball goes where the defense allows it to go. Playersnever know how many touches they will get, but what matters is what you do with thetouches you get. Senior super back J.D. Hook had just 10 carries in Salisbury’s overtimewin against No. 6 St. John Fisher College on October 4, but had the most importantcarry of the day. In overtime, trailing by three points, Hook got the call on a carry upthe middle. He broke two tackles on the effort, getting to the end zone for the game-winning score.

This season, Salisbury has had one of the best in thecountry on their side with sophomore Ryan Kolb. Kolb is averaging 16.3 yards per puntreturn this year, which ranks 12th in Division III football. Kolb’s 28.3 yards per kickreturn also lead the Empire 8 and rank 24th in the country. For his efforts againstHartwick College, which included an 85-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, on October18, Kolb was named the Empire 8’s Special Teams Player of the Week.

Make It CountThe Salisbury offense is primarily based around the run, but when the Sea Gulls havechosen to pass this year, they’ve made it count. Salisbury ranks fourth in the nation thisseason, averaging 20.04 yards per pass completion.
