the cultural, social, economic, and historic heart of our community.

Our Mission

Page 2: Saline Main Street Annual Report

Design GoalsThe goal of the Design Team is to beautify and improve Saline Main Street’s physical appearance through public improvements, development of gathering spaces, review of ordinances within the district, and the education of historic preservation.

Business & Economic SuccessThe goal of the Business & Economic Success Team is to strengthen and broaden the economic base of Downtown Saline through collecting, interpreting and using market data; strengthening and retaining current businesses; stimulating the adaptive reuse of existing space; and recruiting new businesses into the district.

Organization GoalsThe goal of the Organization Team is to establish a strong, effective Main Street organization that recruits and retains volunteers; builds the image of the organization; and develops sound fundraising, fiscal and management policies and programs.

Promotion GoalsThe goal of the Promotions Team is to promote Downtown Saline, establish a unified image for Downtown and encourage an exciting variety of activities for all members of the community through development of image campaigns, retail events, and festivals; a marketing strategy; and an annual calendar of events.

Main Street Four-Point ApproachThe Saline Main Street program is the 17th community in the State

of Michigan to be admitted into the ‘Select Level’ of the Michigan

Main Street program. The program follows the National Main

Street Center’s Four-Point Approach.

Since 1980, the Main Street Program has emerged across the

country as a major force in downtown revitalization. The Main

Street Approach encourages development through the work of

four active teams in the areas of design, business & economic

success, promotion, and organization.
