Point of Pain

Problems:1. Mobile cellular bandwidth is slow

– 2G is only 8-10kbps– 2.5G/3G (GPRS/1X) are really only 10-25kbps – But average web pages range from 100-800KB

2. Mobile screens are too small3. Mobile devices have insufficient memory

& processing power– Memory and processing power limitations do not allow

a full web experience (Java applets, java scripts, animated images, font colors, plug-ins, XML, DHTML etc. etc.)

Compromised Solutions

Current Industry Solutions:

1. Content Elimination: Removal of graphics, and content from the page

The Compromise: The web looks nothing like the real thing and most useful content is lost.

2. Content Scrunching: Reformat & reposition content to fit an a form factor that was never meant for the web

The Compromise: Very very slow, pages still don’t look like the real thing, limited browser functionality.

• Providing full web-access on a VGA-width screen at a blazingly fast speed.

• A cell-phone • Slow, limited access

on tiny screens with arcane data-entry

• A PDA pretending to be a cell-phone

• Slow, limited access on small screens

ScreenResolutionMost web pages are designedfor a 640 pixel screen.Unfortunately, most PDA’shave screens that are too smallto render and display a fullweb-page width, without havingto squish/re-format or scrollhorizontally.

DataWind offers the only fullVGA-width web access deviceat an affordable price.
