February – Heart Fund Charity - 2016 Once again it is time to turn our thoughts to the charity of the month – the Heart Fund. Again this year we will be raffling off some very nice items in the show case, which have been donated by businesses in our community, and many by individuals. And don’t forget the Valentine tradition – the doll. Again, we will be selling raffle tickets on a doll, which has been tradition for many years. The past several years, we have been fortunate to have had a nice piece of jewelry donated for our heart fund raffles and we are hoping to be able to get a nice item donated again this year. So get ready to buy those tickets. We

appreciate the generosity of all of you. If you are unable to come down to the lodge to participate in the raffles, or other “fun” fundraising events throughout the month, but would like to contribute to the Heart Fund charity, you may do so by sending items for the raffle held during each meeting, as well as the showcase. If you have lost a loved one or a special friend this past year and would like to make a contribution in their memory, you may do so by sending a check made payable to the Eagles Auxiliary, noting on the memo line that it is being sent in memory of your special person. The fundraising committee has donated many dollars to the Salem Hospital car-diac unit, and we will be sending them a donation again this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at (h)503-585-2760 (cell) 503-551-3378.. A big “Thank You” to all who have participated in our raffles, by buying raffle tickets, making cash donations and by donating items for our raffles. It all happens because of you. Delilah Ginther Heart Fund Chairperson

I would like to give a big THANK YOU to Ann Madsen for the way she planned out the New Years event. From the set up and the music, to the seat-ing arrangements, every thing went smoothly. Also, a thank you to our kitchen crew, bar staff and all of our volunteers who serve us. You should all know who they are. If I tried to name them for you I might miss one and that would not be fair. Again I say THANK YOU!!! Ron Weathers

Sorry, no names for February. Bring in your ID and official receipt for your free drink!!!

Sunday, January 17th, the Aerie held a special meeting to discuss and vote on the selling and acceptance of the offer on the Pence Loop building and about relocating options. Aerie and Auxiliary members were present. Auxiliary was not allowed to vote according to Grand Aerie Rules. The membership reaffirmed the vote to sell and relocate to a more central location, something that had been done with the merger of Keizer. By a vote of 70 to 1, the membership accepted the offer of $1.37 million on the Pence Loop building. Discussion of possible property options were leasing Woody’s on Hawthorne (formerly Richards, and currently a bar and restaurant), buying Woody’s, a church building, an old DHS building, or something else. The option to lease allows us to directly move into a functioning bar and restaurant and was voted in favor 64 out of 71 members. There were over 20 that thought we should just buy Woody’s. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - For those that were thinking they could come in and vote between 1-5pm Sunday, let me say this: 1. It was meant to be a meeting starting at 1pm, and we had to be done by 5pm due to

another activity starting at 5pm.. 2. You would not have been able to make an informed vote if you were not at the

meeting and listened to the discussion. 3. We ended up keeping the ballots open until 5pm in case anyone showed up. They

would have been allowed to vote after reading over the paperwork that was distributed.

We are sorry for any confusion this caused. Brothers and Sisters, as we are working out the details of this location, please respect that this is a currently operating business. If you are going to visit this place and “check it out” please do so in a respectful manner. When the Building Committee walked through the building, they did so with consent from the business owners, walked through as to not disrupt business, and purchased beverages. Any discussion of the building was not done around other customers of the business. I say this to say that our actions speak volumes. Please choose your words and actions carefully; You represent the Eagles when you walk through. The Building Committee is Jim Morgan, Al Unwin, Ron Weathers, and Doug Zimmerman. These Brothers, along with a few others, have spent a lot of time looking at potential properties, buildings, businesses, etc. There were other options over the last year, but those options were gone when we finally had an offer on Pence Loop. They have #2081’s best interest in mind. Not everyone will be happy with the move; please do not feed into the negativity. Change is hard, but together we can make this a positive change. If you have questions, talk to the building committee members to ensure you are hearing “truths” as there is a lot of information (and misinformation) out there. We will all get through this TOGETHER!! ~ Carmen Zimmerman, Worthy President
