Appreciation of Welding for EngineersPrices (Inclusive of VAT):Corporate Members: R 11,580.00Non-Members: R 12,525.00Course Duration: 5 days
2014 Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town course and examination dates
This course is intended for:
Welding fabrication inspectors, welding engineers, technologists and technicians, welding superintendents and supervisors
JHB DURBAN CAPE TOWN
With increasing operating stresses and temperatures, use of new materials, etc., engineers are finding it increasingly difficult to contain maintenance and fabrication costs due to their lack of knowledge of welding technology and related sciences. With increased knowledge of the above, it has been proven that substantial cost savings are possible. Personnel in senior positions have difficulty in being absent from their work for too long a period. They must, however have a good appreciation of welding technology to ensure that both maintenance, fabrication and construction work is being carried out effectively in terms of quality and cost effectiveness. This course is held on a public basis in all the major centers throughout the year.

International WelderIntroduction
The South African Industry needs specialised skills in welding. SAIW therefore now offers the International Welding training programme to candidates wishing to pursue a career in welding. IIW courses consist of theoretical education, practical training and examination and comprises of three levels of education and training. Modules are International Fillet Welder, International Plate Welder and International Pipe Welder. Material for practical welding will be limited to carbon and low alloy steel. It is possible to specialise in more difficult steels at an additional cost of 20%.
Course Access
Appropriate health as well as physical and mental capability is required to enter at Fillet Welder level. Access to higher levels is allowed upon passing of relevant theoretical examinations and demonstration of required practical skill.
Main Processes
SMAW: Shielded Metal Arc GMAW: Gas Metal Arc GTAW: Gas Tungsten Arc FCAW: Flux Cored Arc MMA: Manual Metal Arc MIG/MAG: Inert or Active Gas TIG: Tungsten Inert Gas
International Fillet Welder Duration Prices (Inclusive of VAT):
