THANK YOU
The Respect Life Group would like to thank the pa-
rishioners of Saints Peter and Paul Parish for the
generous support of the Spiritual Adoption Program
which recently culminated with a Baby Shower.
Two carloads of baby gifts were delivered to Birth-
right in West Chester and Mother’s Home in Darby.
Both organizations were extremely grateful. God
bless you for your caring love for mothers and their
unborn babies. And a special thank you to Fr. Jim
for allowing us to extend the Shower for another
weekend due to the snowstorm.
Women’s Evening Café February 29, 2016
Our next Women’s Cafe is scheduled for Monday, February 29, at 6:30PM in Parish Center room 11. Donna Teti, an inspirational writer and speaker, will be giving a moving presentation on God’s love for us. Her stories have been published in Chicken Soup for the Soul books. Guideposts Magazine and His Mysterious Ways Magazine. Through her inspirational stories of God’s compassion and ever-present love, Donna hopes to refresh our souls, lift our spirits, and remind us that even in the dark-est of times to turn to our Lord for guidance and healing graces. All of the women of our parish are encouraged to attend for an evening of refresh-ment, friendship and fun. Bring a friend!
11 Cents: A Starving Soul
Routine is key to a healthy prayer life, even for
those people who are not the “routine type.” Re-
cently, I fell behind on my prayer routines for vari-
ous reasons but in the back of my mind I assumed
my soul was still in a pretty good place. Last night, I
returned to a late night prayer routine and I was
surprised to find my soul, like a desperate infant,
reaching out to God starving for grace, affection,
consolidation, and peace. I had been depriving my-
self and my soul of its most essential “nutrients.”
We pray not for God but for ourselves.
It is important to think of our relationship with God
like any other personal relationship. Imagine if the
only way a person communicated with their spouse
was through text. That would not be a very healthy
marriage but it would probably be a marriage that
only discussed business and “to-dos.”
The same goes for God. It is so important to re-
member God in little ways with little casual prayers
but those are like texts they are not intimate. It is
also great to ask for help from God and present our
needs and the needs of others but that is kind of
like only discussing business.
A healthy relationship needs leisure time, ex-
pressed gratitude, intimacy, fun, processing of frus-
trations, and heart-to-heart conversations. All of
which is true with God too.
We should make a commitment to vacation with our
loved ones, renew our vows or commitments, and
have intentionally intimate conversations regularly.
The same is true with God. We should renew our
devotion to God once a year, we should take a re-
treat once a year (at least), and we should set aside
journaling or other deeply intimate prayerful times
with God.
No relationship grows strong by accident or by be-
ing neglected. If we want a strong relationship we
will have to intentionally work at it.

Appalachia Service Trip As part of our Outreach opportunities at Saints Pe-ter and Paul, we have been investigating a trip to build and renovate homes in some of the poorest parts of our country, near the Appalachian moun-tains. Construction experience is very helpful but not required. Because this is a new endeavor, we are not sure if we are prepared to take a trip this summer or if we will have to wait until next summer. To find out if there is enough interest, we are hav-ing an information meeting on: February 24 from 7:00PM to 8:30PM, in the Parish Center. If we were to take a trip this summer, it would be July 23 to July 30, 2016, and the cost would be $375 per per-son. If you’re interested in going or learning about future trips please contact Daniel Hoover at [email protected] or extension 263 ASAP.
