Sept. 8: The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Nine months prior, we celebrated the Solemnity of the

Immaculate Conception, acknowledging our belief in Mary as

conceived without sin. Most saints on the liturgical calendar

are memorialized on their date of death. Mary is

remembered on many days throughout the calendar,

however, along with Jesus and John the Baptist, she is one

of the few whose birth is celebrated. Let us hope for new

birth where it is needed in this world, and then rejoice in it

    when it is found.

    Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most

Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I

desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at

this moment receive You sacramentally, come at

least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You

were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You.

    Amen.

    A Prayer for Our Students

Dear God, Thank you for the gift of

education in every form. As our chil-

dren prepare to start a new year, may

    confidence be their foundation, may

grace be their guide and may hope be

their compass toward a bright future.

We pray they would have eyes to see

the needs of those around them and a

heart to love well. May they face each

day with positivity knowing that no

matter what comes their way, they

don’t have to face it alone.

    In Jesus’ name, Amen.

    What’s Happening with Catholic Strong?!

As of June 2020, our parish has received $157,794.00 from the Catholic Strong Campaign (we receive 70% of pledges collected). Some of the areas where we have used these funds thus far, are: the installation of a video surveillance security system in the church & rectory, sound system upgrades in the church & hall, several technology improvements: hall projector upgrades, WIFI added to the church building and live streaming equipment and programing installed. The Catholic Strong funds were also used to support “The Joy of the Gospel” Convocation, as well as the implementation of our new and famous Senior Ministry called 4ever Young! The mission of 4ever Young Senior Ministry is to encourage new friendships among seniors while enjoying a complimentary meal and listening to speakers or entertainment. After the pandemic, we look forward to getting everyone back together again!

Finally, I just want to say thank you again for your continued support. Your donations have helped us build up our parish community and our facility. Pledge payments will continue to be accepted through 2024.
