A big thank you goes out to all those who purchased bags of groceries or donated money for the Philoptohos to buy groceries for the Food Pantry of our neighbors at St.

Community for their participation in providing food for the needy and delivering the goods to their distribution center.

PACK A BACKPACK FOR CHILDREN!
The Philoptohos Society will be collecting NEW backpacks for homeless children who pass through the Los Angeles Mission. On Sunday, July 31 after liturgy, join us in the Maniatakos Ballroom for lunch. Your ‘admission price’ into the luncheon will be one NEW backpack (or more if you want) - OR a monetary donation for the Mission. You may purchase backpacks for boys or girls, from Kindergarten through college age. A different choice, instead of a backpack, would be to donate items to put ‘into’ the backpacks, such as Kleenex packages, notebook paper, pencils or pens. (Please NO markers). Imagine the circumstances for children living on the streets, in abandoned buildings or alleys. Getting up every day and trying to focus on school is hard enough, let alone for someone who has no bed to sleep in, little food and struggling every day just to stay alive. If you have any questions, please contact Virginia Noyes at [email protected]. EVERYONE IS WELCOME! No donation is too small! We hope to see you at the luncheon!!
JOY OF PARENTING CLASS
Join your fellow parishioners in a lively discussion of parenting children of all ages. Class will be held in the Work/Study Room in the Huffington Center, upstairs, near the left-side staircase, immediately following Holy Communion and concluding at 12:15 p.m. Come with your concerns and questions or just listen; there is no pressure to speak to the class. It’s a wonderful way to become acquainted with other parents. There is no fee to attend. The Joy of Parenting Ministry is facilitated by Barbara Kappos, LCSW and Dr. Nik Stefanidis, Ph.D. Upcoming topic: Today “Transitions.” Barbara and Nik are stepping down from their duties as facilitators and this will be their final session. Please join us for discussion and to thank them for their years of service to our community.
