Abstinencia - Todos los fieles que han alcanzado los 14 años de edad están obligados a abstenerse totalmente de comer carne todos los viernes de Cuaresma. Minusválidos, mujeres embarazadas y madres lactantes están exentos. El Ayuno se guarda el Miércoles de Ceniza y el Viernes Santo por todos los católicos que tienen entre la edad de 18 años y 59 años. Los que están obligados sólo pueden tener una sola comi-da completa, evitando picar entre comidas. Líquidos ligeros o comidas más pequeñas, también se los puede tomar dos veces más durante el día, pero comer platos fuertes entre comidas no está permitido. Abstinence - All the faithful who have reached 14 years of age are required to abstain totally from meat on Ash Wednesday and on all Fridays of Lent. Invalids, pregnant and nursing mothers are exempt. Fasting - Is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday by all Catholics who are between 18 years of age and 59. Those who are bound by this may only have one single full meal, avoiding food between meals.
