Catholic Saturday, November 5th
8:00AM - 4:30PM (Note New Hours)
Saint of the Week - Saint Charles Borromeo Charles was born at Aron in Italy. He was the son of a rich Italian count and the nephew of Pope Pius IV. He was only twenty-three when his uncle gave him the responsibility for the Church reform commanded by the Council of Trent in handling the political affairs of the city of Rome. When Charles arrived in Milan, he faced a daunting task. He believed that abuses in the church arose from ignorant clergy. Among his most important actions, he established seminaries, colleges and communities for the education of candidates for holy orders. His emphasis on Catholic learning greatly increased the preparation of men for priesthood and benefited their congregations. The instruction of youth were especially fruitful, initiating the first “Sunday School” classes. His reforms of the diocese, in accordance with the decrees of the council, were dramatic and effective. Borromeo faced staunch opposition of several religious orders but by wise laws, gentle kindness and his own wonderful
example, St. Charles made his diocese a model for the whole Catholic Church. As he lay dying at the age of forty-six, St. Charles said peacefully, "Behold, I come!" He died on November 3, 1584 and is patron saint of Catechist, Catechumens and Seminarians.

CHAPLET OF DIVINE MERCY
In a quiet moment, press Jesus close to your heart and hear Him say to you, “I lived for you, I died for you, I rose for you and I created the heavens for you.” Then, in your gratitude, turn to Him and thank Him for all He has done in love and mercy for you and for the world. Pray for Him to give all persons a grateful heart.
Join us and Jesus at 10:30AM in the Chapel each Sunday to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy … for us, our parish and the world.
