The Haiti Mission Team thanks the Streator Catholic Community for once again supporting our efforts to raise money for the poor of Haiti. With your support and generosity $3,200 was raised at the recent household goods sale. This money will go towards building a home for a very fortunate family in Jeremie, Haiti.

We also would like to thank Mrs. Connie Durdan’s third grade class for the money they raised for the Mission. God bless you all!

SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME July 22, 2012

Msgr. George A. Carton College Seminarian Scholarship Dinner

The Diocesan Vocation Team and Msgr. Brian Brownsey announce plans for the 2012 Msgr. George A. Carton College Seminarian Scholarship Dinner. The dinner will be held at Celebrations 150 on Rt. 6 east of LaSalle, IL on Friday, August 3rd. A reception will be held at 6:00 PM, followed by dinner and program at 7:00 PM. The evening features an opportunity for guests to meet and hear from seminarians and the priests who are leading the Vocations program in the Catholic Diocese of Peoria.

Proceeds from the Dinner are used to ensure that no young man is denied the opportunity to discern a priestly vocation in a College Seminary due merely to his finan-cial situation.

Reservations are greatly encouraged. Please contact Amy in the Office of Priestly Vocations at (309) 671-1550 by Noon on Friday, July 27th. Amy can also assist per-sons who wish to contribute but cannot attend.

While attendance at the dinner is free of charge and is an opportunity to educate our guests regarding voca-tions activities in the Diocese of Peoria, the evening is primarily a fundraiser. We ask that those who plan to attend have the capacity and are prayerfully prepared to financially support the program.

CATECHISTS, TEEN & ADULT AIDES, SUBSTITUTES AND HALL MONITORS NEEDED

FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES

Shhh. You are being called. Your call may come as you read this article in this week’s bul-letin or perhaps as you are registering your stu-dents for Religious Education classes!

Taking this challenge to spread the Good News to others may not be the only reason to answer this call. Other reasons may be that the best way to learn more about your faith is to teach. In addi-tion you show your family that you value the faith and you become a role model and trusted adult to the young people of St. Michael the Archangel Parish.

At this present time St. Michael the Archangel Religious Education Program is in need of Catechists in Grades 5 & 7 for the Wednesday Session from 4:00-5:15 p.m. Catechists are also needed in Grades 1, 2, 4 & 6 for the Sunday Session held from 10:00-11:15 a.m.

Both sessions are in need of adult & teen classroom aides and hall monitors. High school and college stu-dents are also needed and welcome to help aide in ei-ther sessions. If interested call Sr. Alice Ann at 815-672-5911.

Registering for Religious Education Classes

Parents registering their children for Religious Educa-tion classes (CCD) are advised to do so before Fri-day, July 27th. Any parents registering their children after that date, and who previously attended classes will be charged a $20.00 late fee. We ask that you register as soon as possible! All new families are wel-come! If you have any questions or need a new regis-tration form please contact our office at 815-672-5911.
