    PARISH STAFF

A warm welcome is extended to all who come to St. Mary’s-Stony Hill to join together in this community of worship and praise to Almighty God. We are grateful to our faithful parishioners and welcome our neighbors and guests who visit us occasionally. We want you to know that you are always welcome! All parishioners should be registered with the parish office. Please notify the parish if you change your address or move out of the parish. Certificates of eligibility to sponsor at Baptism or Confirmation will be given only to registered parishioners who are active and practicing Catholics.

We offer religious education for children of registered parishioners, who attend public school grades 1-8. In addition, preparation for the Sacraments of First Penance, First Holy Communion and Confirmation is also provided for students who attend Catholic schools. Please check our website or contact the Office of Religious Education for information.

Due to privacy laws, we are no longer notified when parishioners are admitted to local hospitals. We are happy to visit sick or homebound parishioners when requested by family members. Please call the parish office to make arrangements. Emergency sick calls can be made at anytime by calling the parish office and selecting “9”. Please only use this option for genuine emergencies requiring a priest.

Baptism: 2ND & 4TH SUNDAY: 12:15 pm—Arrangements must be made through the parish office at least one month in advance. Parents must be registered parishioners; sponsors must be practicing Catholics in good standing. If sponsors are from other parishes, a letter of good standing from their pastor is required. Reconciliation: SATURDAY: 3:00-3:45 pm. Also by appointment. Confessional in foyer. Marriage: Please contact the parish office for an appointment at least one year in advance of the planned wedding date. Additional information is available on our parish website: www.stmaryswatchung.org.

Thank you and may God bless you for your continued support of our parish!

Week of September 10-11 (Excludes WeShare):

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION “No servant can serve two masters. He will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (wealth).” Lk. 16:13 Is money a “god” that you put before God? Giving money to support the Church and other charity is a pillar of our Faith, just like attending Mass every Sunday and participating in parish ministry. Giving money frees us from being a slave to money and increases our dependence on God and to trust that He will provide all that we need.

BEREAVEMENT GROUP “Journey through Grief” our parish bereavement support group will begin on Thursday, October 27th at 7PM in the Parish Center. We meet for six consecutive Thursday evenings (skipping Thanksgiving Day). The group is open to all who are grieving the loss of a loved one (family member or friend). There is no cost, but we do ask you to register. Please contact Cheryl Gatti via phone at 908-285-0330 or via email at [email protected] to sign up.

BABY SHOWER FOR THE CENTER FOR GREAT EXPECTATIONS

Join us for a Baby Shower at St. Mary’s-Stony Hill, on Sunday, October 2nd at 12:15 p.m. (immediately following the 11:15 a.m. Mass). Refreshments will be served in the Parish Center. ALL ARE WELCOME! Gift Cards are the perfect present. (The Center purchases identical gifts for all

new Moms in an effort to be fair.) Cash donations are also accepted and appreciated.

RCIA/ADULT FAITH FORMATION If you are considering becoming a Catholic or if you are Catholic but have not received the Sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation, we invite you to join our RCIA/Adult Faith Formation program. Please contact Anthony Pangi at 732-764-0264 or [email protected] for more information about this program.

THANK YOU TO THE GARDEN CLUB! We extend a warm thank you to the Watchung Garden Club, who work to keep our Fatima garden so beautiful. Through their efforts the flowers have been watered, weeded and pruned. We have all enjoyed the beauty of the garden through the

spring and summer months! Thank you for sharing your talents with your St. Mary's family.

REMEMBER IN PRAYER We offer our sincere sympathy to the families of Deacon Jack Ivers, Adelaide Grech and Paul Gaglioti who died recently. May their souls, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in God’s peace.

    Sharing the Gospel

Jesus wants you to be honest. When you tell lies, your friends will not be able to trust you. Tell the truth. If you find a wallet, bring it to the police station. If you see someone drop some money, pick it up and give it back to them. If someone left a jacket or toy on the playground, don’t take it. Turn it in to “lost and found.” When you are honest with small things, people will see that you can be trusted with bigger things, too.
