We can imagine that among those in the crowd who sang and shouted as Jesus entered Jerusalem would have been such people as the prodigal son, the healed leper, those who had followed Jesus because they felt his compassion for their pain and misery. PARISH MEMBERSHIP Registration forms are available in the

vestibules of the church. Please notify the

Rectory if you change your address or move

from the parish. You must be a registered

parishioner for at least 6 months before we

can issue a certificate of eligibility to be a

sponsor or godparent. Please make an

appointment with Monsignor Amey if you

need a Pastoral Recommendation.

BAPTISMS Baptisms are held two Saturdays per month

at 10:00 am and two Sundays per month at

11:30 am, subject to scheduling. Pre-baptism

classes for all new parents will be held

monthly in the Rectory Meeting Room. To

enroll, call the Rectory 4-6 weeks prior to

class. Six months prior parish registration is

required.

MARRIAGES Couples must make arrangements with one

of the parish priests at least six months prior

to the tentative wedding date. At. least one

party must be a member of St. Mary’s Parish.

Fast and Abstinence All

Catholics over the age of 14 are

obliged to abstain from meat on

Good Friday.

All Catholics from their 18th birthday

until and including their 59th

birthday are obliged to fast on Good

Friday. One full meal is allowed on

the days of fast. Two other meatless

meals, sufficient to maintain strength,

are allowed. Together the two meals

should not exceed the full

meal. Drinking of ordinary liquids

does not break the fast.

The Collection for the

Holy Land will be taken up on

Good Friday at St. Mary’s. In the words

of Paul VI is "not only for the Holy

Places but above all for those pastoral,

charitable, educational, and social

works which the Church supports in the

Holy Land for the welfare of their

Christian brethren and of the local

Tenebrae at the

Cathedral of

St. Matthew the Apostle

-On Wednesday of Holy Week,

April 17, at 7:30 pm. come and

experience this unique and rarely

celebrated ancient rite. After the 15

candles of the candelabra are gradually

extinguished, the traditional Strepitus is

sounded in total darkness and the

Paschal candle is taken from the

sanctuary recalling Christ’s death.

Divine Mercy Devotion-All

are invited to a Divine Mercy Holy Hour

will be Sunday, April 28 at 3 pm in

the Main Church. In April 2000, Pope

John Paul II canonized St. Faustina

Kowalska, a Polish nun who became

known as an Apostle of the Divine

Mercy, and officially designated the

Sunday after Easter as Divine Mercy

Sunday. To celebrate this sacred feast

within the Holy Hour the Blessed

Sacrament will be exposed, the Divine

Mercy Image and first-class relic of

St. Faustina will be venerated, and

prayers will be recited.

The Divine Mercy Novena begins on

Good Friday, April 19 and concludes

on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 28.

St Mark’s Society-The

St. Mark’s Society is a prayer and faith

discussion group who meet regularly in

St. Mary’s school room 44. We invite

anyone who wants to discuss Catholic

doctrine, social events and media issues
