A leper came to Jesus and kneeling down begged him and said, “If you wish, you can make me clean.” Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand, touched him, and said to him, “I do will it. Be made clean.” The leprosy le: him immediately, and he was made clean. Then, warning him sternly, he dismissed him at once. He said to him, “See that you tell no one anything, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them.” The man went away and began to publicize the whole ma?er. He spread the report abroad so that it was impossible for Jesus to enter a town openly. He remained outside in deserted places, and people kept coming to him from everywhere. Mk 1:40-45

Courageous missionaries

175. Filled with the love of Christ, young people are called to be witnesses of the Gospel wherever they find themselves, by the way they live. Saint Alberto Hurtado once said that “being an apostle does not mean wearing a lapel pin; it is not about speaking about the truth but living it, embodying it, being transformed in Christ. Being an apostle does not mean carrying a torch in hand, possessing the light, but being that light… The Gospel, more than a lesson, is an example. A message that becomes a life fully lived”.[93]

176. The importance of witness does not mean that we should be silent about the word. Why should we not speak of Jesus, why should we not tell others that he gives us strength in life, that 37 we enjoy talking with him, that we benefit from meditating on his words? Young people, do not let the world draw you only into things that are wrong and superficial. Learn to swim against the tide, learn how to share Jesus and the faith he has given you. May you be moved by that same irresistible impulse that led Saint Paul to say: “Woe to me if I do not proclaim the Gospel” (1 Cor 9:16)!

177. “Where does Jesus send us? There are no borders, no limits: he sends us everywhere. The Gospel is for everyone, not just for some. It is not only for those who seem closer to us, more receptive, more welcoming. It is for everyone. Do not be afraid to go and bring Christ into every area of life, to the fringes of society, even to those who seem farthest away and most indifferent. The Lord seeks all; he wants everyone to feel the warmth of his mercy and his love”.[94] He invites us to be fearless missionaries wherever we are and in whatever company we find ourselves: in our neighbourhoods, in school or sports or social life, in volunteer service or in the workplace. Wherever we are, we always have an opportunity to share the joy of the Gospel. That is how the Lord goes out to meet everyone. He loves you, dear young people, for you are the means by which he can spread his light and hope. He is counting on your courage, your boldness and your enthusiasm.

178. Don’t think that this mission is soft and easy. Some young people have given their lives for the sake of missionary outreach. As the Korean bishops put it: “we hope that we can be grains of wheat and instruments for the salvation of humanity, following upon the example of the martyrs. Though our faith is as small as a mustard seed, God will give it growth and use it as an instrument for his work of salvation”.[95] Young friends, don’t wait until tomorrow to contribute your energy, your audacity and your creativity to changing our world. Your youth is not an “in-between time”. You are the now of God, and he wants you to bear fruit.[96] For “it is in giving that we receive”.[97] The best way to prepare a bright future is to experience the present as best we can, with commitment and generosity. .

175. Enamorados de Cristo, los jóvenes están llamados a dar testimonio del Evangelio en todas partes, con su propia vida. San Alberto Hurtado decía que «ser apóstoles no significa llevar una insignia en el ojal de la chaqueta; no significa hablar de la verdad, sino vivirla, encarnarse en ella, transformarse en Cristo. Ser apóstol no es llevar una antorcha en la mano, poseer la luz, sino ser la luz [...]. El Evangelio [...] más que una lección es un ejemplo. El mensaje convertido en vida viviente»[93].

176. El valor del testimonio no significa que se deba callar la palabra. ¿Por qué no hablar de Jesús, por qué no contarles a los

demás que Él nos da fuerzas para vivir, que es bueno conversar con Él, que nos hace bien

meditar sus palabras? Jóvenes, no dejen que el mundo los arrastre a compartir sólo las cosas

malas o superficiales. Ustedes sean capaces de ir contracorriente y sepan compartir a Jesús, comuniquen la fe que Él les regaló. Ojalá puedan sentir en el corazón

el mismo impulso irresistible que movía a san Pablo cuando decía: «¡Ay de mí si no anuncio el Evangelio!» (1 Co 9,16).

177. «¿Adónde nos envía Jesús? No hay fronteras, no hay límites: nos envía a todos. El Evangelio no es para algunos sino para todos. No es sólo para los que nos parecen más cercanos, más receptivos, más acogedores. Es para todos. No tengan miedo de ir y llevar a Cristo a cualquier ambiente, hasta las periferias existenciales, también a quien parece más lejano, más indiferente. El Señor busca a todos, quiere que todos sientan el calor de su misericordia y de su amor»[94]. Y nos invita a ir sin miedo con el anuncio misionero, allí donde nos encontremos y con quien estemos, en el barrio, en el estudio, en el deporte, en las salidas con los amigos, en el voluntariado o en el trabajo, siempre es bueno y oportuno compartir la alegría del Evangelio. Así es como el Señor se va acercando a todos. Y a ustedes, jóvenes, los quiere como sus instrumentos para derramar luz y esperanza, porque quiere contar con vuestra valentía, frescura y entusiasmo.

178. No cabe esperar que la misión sea fácil y cómoda. Algunos jóvenes dieron su vida con tal de no frenar su impulso misionero. Los Obispos de Corea expresaron: «Esperamos que podamos ser granos de trigo e instrumentos para la salvación de la humanidad, siguiendo el ejemplo de los mártires. Aunque nuestra fe es tan pequeña como una semilla de mostaza, Dios le dará crecimiento y la utilizará como un instrumento para su obra de salvación»[95]. Amigos, no esperen a mañana para colaborar en la transformación del mundo con su energía, su audacia y su creatividad. La vida de ustedes no es un “mientras tanto”. Ustedes son el ahora de Dios, que los quiere fecundos[96]. Porque «es dando como se recibe»[97], y la mejor manera de preparar un buen futuro es vivir bien el presente con entrega y generosidad.

Lent 2021

Dear Friends:

"The Spirit drove Jesus out into the desert, and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan...A:er John had been arrested, Jesus

came to Galilee proclaiming the Gospel of God."(Mark 1:12 – 14) Each year on the First Sunday of Lent, the Church presents for our reflecAon and

prayer the experience of Jesus in the desert. Jesus's experience in the desert follows immediately upon His bapAsm by Saint John the BapAst

and immediately precedes His public ministry and proclamaAon of the Kingdom of God, in word and in deed. Saint Mark points out to us that the

Spirit, who had just descended upon Jesus in the form of a dove, drove Jesus into the desert.

The desert was a barren place, a place of lifelessness, the home of the devil and evil. The Spirit sends Jesus into the desert to prepare himself

for the years of His public ministry, ulAmately leading to His Death and ResurrecAon. Jesus spends Ame away from the world to prepare himself.

But He also goes forth into the desert to begin His ba?le against evil, sin and death. Jesus goes into the very dwelling of evil to begin the

confrontaAon. This ba?le will conAnue throughout the rest of Jesus's life. The ulAmate victory will come on Good Friday through His ulAmate act

of love on the Cross.

Our yearly experience of Lent, our forty day "desert experience," can be viewed in the same way. We are inspired and sent by the Spirit to spend

some Ame apart from the world of noise and recover the beauty of silence. But, we are also sent to do ba?le. Our experience of true silence should

allow us the opportunity to both listen to the voice and prompAngs of God as well as to be?er know ourselves. This personal ba?le against

sin and evil can be painful, because we come to realize that we are all in need of constant conversion. There are real changes each and every

one of us need to make in our lives and our hearts this Lent. But like Jesus, we are not alone. The Lord was ministered to by angels during His

forty days in the desert. We are constantly aided by our guardian angels, by the angels and saints in heaven, by the community of the bapAzed,

and by the grace of the sacraments of the Church. Like Jesus, we need to emerge from the desert ready to take on the evils of the world and work

to spread the Gospel.

It was only a few short weeks into Lent 2020 that the experience of Covid-19 made radical changes to our society, our Church, and our families. The

experience of desert isolaAon was no longer a metaphor but a lived reality. The experience of having our parishes locked down for months was

painful for all of us. Many of us sAll experience this isolaAon in many ways. But as ChrisAans we always remain men and women of hope. We

know that the Cross of Good Friday leads to the empty tomb of Easter Sunday.

Pope Francis has declared this year as a special Year of Saint Joseph. In Saint Joseph we find a man of profound hope and strength as well as

prayerful silence. Scripture does not record one word spoken by Saint Joseph. But Scripture does tell us of his unwavering faith and trust, which

go beyond words. Following Jesus, and like Saint Joseph, men and women in the first centuries of the Church began to leave the towns and

villages and se?le in the isolaAon of the desert. Like the Lord, they sought to rid themselves of the distracAons of everyday life so they too could

do ba?le with evil, and through their quiet example proclaim the Kingdom of God.

This conAnued throughout the history of the Church, even to our present moment. Saint Antony, Saint Benedict, Saint Bruno, and so many others

show us the lived experience of the desert is not an escape from the reality of life but a privileged encounter with the Lord and a revelaAon of our

true selves. While most of us are not called to the monasAc or solitary life, the last twelve months have given each of us an experience of solitude.

We are encouraged to remain "socially distant." In the midst of the real suffering and hardships this has caused, perhaps the hidden grace is that

it has led us to be "temporary monasAcs."

Our typical Lenten "desert experience" of forty days has lasted a bit longer. But we will come out of it! And like the Lord, when we emerge our

goal is to proclaim the Gospel of God according to our vocaAon and the graces given to us. In addiAon to our personal sins and the evils present in

our own hearts, we live in a world that is right now suffering from real physical illness as well as real division and hurt of every kind. Jesus

emerged from the desert bringing the healing presence of God to all he encountered. As the bapAzed, the Church, the conAnuing presence of

Jesus in the world, we need to do the same. The same Holy Spirit that drove Jesus into the desert is driving us on.

Cuaresma 2021

Queridos amigos:

"El Espíritu expulsó a Jesús al desierto, y permaneció en el desierto durante cuarenta días, tentado por Satanás ... Después de que Juan

fue arrestado, Jesús vino a Galilea proclamando el Evangelio de Dios" (Marcos 1:12-14). El primer domingo de Cuaresma, la Iglesia

presenta para nuestra reflexión y oración la experiencia de Jesús en el desierto. La experiencia de Jesús en el desierto sigue

inmediatamente a Su bauAsmo por San Juan BauAsta y precede inmediatamente a Su ministerio público y proclamación del Reino de

Dios, de palabra y de hecho. San Marcos nos señala que el Espíritu, que acababa de descender sobre Jesús en forma de paloma,

lo llevó al desierto.

El desierto era un lugar estéril, un lugar sin vida, el hogar del diablo y el mal. El Espíritu envía a Jesús al desierto para prepararse para los

años de su ministerio público, lo que finalmente lo lleva a su muerte y resurrección. Jesús pasa Aempo fuera del mundo para

prepararse. Pero también sale al desierto para comenzar su batalla contra el mal, el pecado y la muerte. Jesús entra en la misma morada

del mal para comenzar la confrontación. Esta batalla conAnuará durante el resto de la vida de Jesús. La victoria final vendrá el Viernes

Santo a través de Su úlAmo acto de amor en la Cruz. Nuestra experiencia anual de Cuaresma, nuestra "experiencia en el desierto" de

debe permiArnos la oportunidad tanto de escuchar la voz y las impresiones de Dios como de conocernos mejor a nosotros mismos.

Esta batalla personal contra el pecado y el mal puede ser dolorosa, porque nos damos cuenta de que todos necesitamos una conversión

constante. Hay cambios reales que todos y cada uno de nosotros debemos hacer en nuestras vidas y corazones en esta Cuaresma.

Pero como Jesús, no estamos solos. El Señor fue ministrado por ángeles durante Sus cuarenta días en el desierto. Nos ayudan

constantemente nuestros ángeles de la guarda, los ángeles y los santos del cielo, la comunidad de los bauAzados y la gracia de los

sacramentos de la Iglesia. Como Jesús, debemos salir del desierto listos para enfrentar los males del mundo y trabajar para difundir el

Evangelio.

Fueron solo unas pocas semanas después de la Cuaresma 2020 que la experiencia de Covid-19 hizo cambios radicales en nuestra

sociedad, nuestra Iglesia y nuestras familias. La experiencia del aislamiento en el desierto ya no era una metáfora, sino una realidad

vivida. La experiencia de tener nuestras parroquias cerradas durante meses fue dolorosa para todos nosotros. Muchos de nosotros

todavía experimentamos este aislamiento de muchas maneras. Pero como crisAanos siempre seguimos siendo hombres y mujeres de

esperanza. Sabemos que la Cruz del Viernes Santo conduce al sepulcro vacío del Domingo de Resurrección.

El Papa Francisco ha declarado este año como un Año especial de San José. En San José encontramos a un hombre de profunda esperanza y

fortaleza, así como de silencio orante. La Escritura no registra una sola palabra de San José. Pero la Escritura nos habla de su fe y confianza

inquebrantables, que van más allá de las palabras. Siguiendo a Jesús, y como a San José, los hombres y mujeres de los primeros siglos

de la Iglesia empezaron a salir de los pueblos y aldeas para asentarse en el aislamiento del desierto. Como el Señor, buscaron deshacerse de

las distracciones de la vida diaria para que ellos también pudieran luchar contra el mal y, a través de su tranquilo ejemplo, proclamar el Reino

de Dios.

Esto conAnuó a lo largo de la historia de la Iglesia, incluso hasta nuestro momento presente. San Antonio, San Benito, San Bruno y tantos

otros nos muestran que la experiencia vivida del desierto no es un escape a la realidad de la vida sino un encuentro privilegiado con el Señor y

una revelación de nuestro verdadero yo. Si bien la mayoría de nosotros no estamos llamados a la vida monásAca o solitaria, los úlAmos doce

meses nos han dado a cada uno de nosotros una experiencia de soledad. Se nos anima a permanecer "socialmente distantes". En medio del

sufrimiento real y las dificultades que esto ha causado, quizás la gracia oculta es que nos ha llevado a ser "monásAcos temporales".

Nuestra �pica "experiencia del desierto" cuaresmal de cuarenta días ha durado un poco más. ¡Pero saldremos de esto! Y como el Señor,

cuando salimos nuestro objeAvo es anunciar el Evangelio de Dios según nuestra vocación y las gracias que se nos han dado. Además de

nuestros pecados personales y los males presentes en nuestros propios corazones, vivimos en un mundo que en este momento está

sufriendo una enfermedad �sica real, así como una división real y heridas de todo Apo. Jesús emergió del desierto llevando la presencia

sanadora de Dios a todos los que encontró. Como bauAzados, la Iglesia, la presencia conAnua de Jesús en el mundo, debemos hacer lo mismo.

El mismo Espíritu Santo que llevó a Jesús al desierto nos impulsa.

1. ParAcipate in a spiritual retreat for at least one day that includes a meditaAon on St. Joseph.

2. Pray for St. Joseph’s intercession for the unemployed that they might find dignifying work.

3. Recite the Litany of St. Joseph for persecuted ChrisAans.

4. Entrust one’s daily work and acAvity to the protecAon of St. Joseph the Worker.

5. Follow St. Joseph’s example in doing a corporal work of mercy: feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, sheltering the homeless, visiAng the imprisoned, visiAng the sick, and burying the dead.

6. Do one of the spiritual works of mercy: comforAng the sorrowful, counseling the doub�ul, instrucAng the ignorant, admonishing the sinner, bearing wrongs paAently, forgiving injuries, and praying for the living and the dead.

7. Pray the rosary together with one’s family in order that “all ChrisAan families may be sAmulated to recreate the same atmosphere of inAmate communion, love and prayer that was in the Holy Family.”

8. Engaged couples can also receive an indulgence from praying the rosary together.

9. Meditate for at least 30 minutes on the Lord’s Prayer, because St. Joseph “invites us to rediscover our filial relaAonship with the Father, to renew fidelity to prayer, to listen and correspond with profound discernment to God’s will.”

10. Pray an approved prayer to St. Joseph on St. Joseph Sunday, the Sunday a:er Christmas.

11. Celebrate the feast of St. Joseph on March 19 with an act of piety in honor of St. Joseph.

12. Pray an approved prayer to St. Joseph on the 19th of any month.

13. Honor Joseph with an act of piety or approved prayer on a Wednesday, the day dedicated to St. Joseph.

14. Pray to St. Joseph on the Feast of the Holy Family on Dec. 27.

15. Celebrate the feast of St. Joseph the Worker on May 1 with an act of piety or prayer.

the opportunity to obtain a special plenary indulgence

There are 15 ways to receive an indulgence in the Year of St. Joseph:

in the Time of COVID-19

Ash Wednesday (Wednesday, February 17, 2021) in the Ame of the pandemic, the imposiAon of ashes in the usual manner is not possible. We remind the faithful that Ash Wednesday is not a Holy Day of ObligaAon, and that one is not obliged to a?end Mass, nor is one obliged to receive ashes.On January 12, 2021, Robert Cardinal Sarah, the Prefect of the CongregaAon of Divine Worship and Discipline of the Sacraments, issued a note enAtled “DistribuAon of Ashes in Time of Pandemic”. In that document, Cardinal Sarah gives the following instrucAon to the clergy:

The Priest says the prayer for blessing the ashes. He sprinkles the ashes with holy water, without saying anything. Then he addresses all those present and only once says the formula as it appears in the Roman Missal, applying it to all in general: “Repent, and believe in the

Gospel”, or “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return”.

The Priest then cleanses his hands, puts on a face mask and distributes the ashes to those who come to him or, if appropriate, he goes to those who are standing in their places. The Priest takes the ashes and sprinkles them on the head of each one without saying anything.

Because of the instruc4on from Cardinal Sarah and due to the current state of the pandemic, this year the Diocese of Rockville Centre will administer ashes to the faithful by sprinkling the blessed ashes on the top of the head of the recipient. This is the tradiAonal pracAce of the Roman Rite, and is currently observed in Rome, throughout Europe, and in various other parts of the world. This method, rooted in the scriptural tradiAon, will allow for ashes to be given easily without making physical contact.

The Rite of Elec4on (Sunday, February 21, 2021) Because of the current state of the pandemic, and because of esAmates of nearly one-thousand parAcipants throughout the Diocese this year, it is not possible to hold the customary large-scale celebraAons. The RCIA permits the Diocesan Bishop to delegate his role to others (RCIA, 122).

Consequently, in the Diocese of Rockville Centre this year, Bishop Barres delegates to every pastor his permission for them to celebrate the Rite of Elec�on in each individual parish.

Instrucciones de la Diócesis de Rockville Centre para el Miércoles de ceniza y el Rito de Elección

en la época de COVID-19

Miércoles de Ceniza (Miércoles, Febrero 17, 2021)

En este momento de la pandemia, la imposición de cenizas de la manera habitual no es posible. Recordamos a los fieles que el miércoles de ceniza no es un día santo de obligación, y que uno no hay obligación de asisAr a misa, ni está obligado a recibir cenizas. El 12 de enero de 2021, el cardenal Robert Sarah, el prefecto de la Congregación de Divine Adoración y disciplina de los sacramentos, emiAó una nota Atulada “Distribución de cenizas en Aempos de pandemia”. En ese documento, el cardenal Sarah da las siguientes instrucciones al clero:

El sacerdote dice la oración para bendecir las cenizas. Rocía las cenizas con agua bendita, sin decir nada. Luego se dirige a todos los presentes y sólo una vez dice la fórmula tal como aparece en el Misal Romano, aplicándola a todos en general: “Arrepiéntanse y crean en el

Evangelio”, o “Recuerda que eres polvo, y en polvo te converArás".

A conAnuación, el sacerdote se limpia las manos, se pone una mascarilla y distribuye las cenizas a los que se acercan a él o, en su caso, se dirige a los que están en su lugar. El sacerdote toma las cenizas y las esparce sobre la cabeza de cada uno sin decir nada.

Debido a las instrucciones del Cardenal Sarah y debido al estado actual de la pandemia, este año la Diócesis de Rockville Center administrará cenizas a los fieles rociando las cenizas benditas en la parte superior de la cabeza del des4natario. Esta es la prácAca tradicional del Rito Romano y actualmente se observa en Roma, en toda Europa y en varias otras partes del mundo.

Este método, arraigado en la tradición bíblica, permiArá que las cenizas se entreguen fácilmente sin haber contacto �sico. Rociar cenizas sobre la coronilla recuerda el método bíblico de ponerse cilicio y cenizas como señal de penitencia. Varios relatos de la Biblia mencionan a personas que rocían o arrojan cenizas sobre su cabeza (por ejemplo, Números 19:17, Jonás 3: 6, Nehemías 9: 1, Judit 4:11 y Ester 4: 1). Además, es úAl recordar que en el bauAsmo, fuimos ungidos en la coronilla. Las cenizas que se impondrán sobre la coronilla significan nuestro arrepenAmiento del pecado, que ha empañado la gracia del BauAsmo.

El Rito de Elección (domingo, Febrero 21, 2021)

Debido al estado actual de la pandemia, y debido a las esAmaciones de casi mil parAcipantes en toda la Diócesis este año, no es posible realizar las celebraciones habituales a gran escala. R.I.C.A. permite que el Obispo Diocesano delegue su papel a otros (R.I.C.A., 122).

En consecuencia, en la Diócesis de Rockville Center este año, el Obispo Barres delega a cada párroco su permiso para que celebre el Rito de Elección en su parroquia.

ANNOUNCEMENTS • We are hosAng all pubic liturgies and Sacraments (Mass, weddings, funerals, bapAsms, etc.) in churches / indoor

faciliAes with 50% of our building capacity in a?endance (450 people). The dispensa4on from the obliga4on to ajend Sunday Mass remains in effect indefinitely. Those who are sick or vulnerable due to age or health condiAons are strongly encouraged to remain at home and view the Mass on television or online. Saint Luke´s website offers links for both English and Spanish Masses on Sundays (www.sanlukes.org).

• Due to the growing risk of contagion and for the safety of all the parishioners, temperature will be taken before entering the church.

• Only families living together may sit together. All others must maintain social distancing (6 feet apart).

• Masks must be worn by all present. Facial coverings should not be worn by children under two years of age or by anyone with breathing difficulAes. We emphasize that no one will be admi?ed without wearing a mask covering both the nose and the mouth. However, the priest celebrant and assistants will not wear a mask during the celebraAon of the Holy Mass.

• Holy Water dispenser (tank) remains available for people to take Holy Water home.

• Use of restroooms is reserved for emergencies only.

• Hymnals / missale?es have been removed from the pews. BulleAns shall not be distributed. BulleAns will be on a table to be picked up by the person who wants to take a copy home.

• There is no offertory procession or Sign of Peace so as to avoid close contact with numerous people.

• The faithful can drop their alms into an offering box located at the church entrance.

• The rectory is now open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

• Priests or deacons will not visit enclosed places. House blessings and wake a?endance are not allowed at this Ame.

• The faithful should receive Holy Communion removing any face coverings as they go back to their seats (we kindly ask the faithful to receive it in the hand)..

• Holy Communion may not be distributed with gloves, nor may it be received in a gloved hand.

AVISOS • Se pueden celebrar todas las liturgias y sacramentos públicos (misa, bodas, funerales, bauAzos, etc.) en iglesias /

instalaciones interiores con un 50% de nuestra capacidad (450 personas). La dispensa de la obligación de asis4r a la misa dominical permanece vigente indefinidamente. Se recomienda encarecidamente a los que están enfermos o vulnerables debido a su edad o condiciones de salud que permanezcan en sus hogares y vean la misa en televisión o en la internet. La Iglesia de San Lucas emite todos los domingos la misa del día por su siAo de internet: www.sanlukes.org. En dicho siAo hay otros enlaces para misas en inglés y español.

• Debido al creciente riesgo de contagio y por la seguridad de todos los feligreses, se tomará la temperatura antes de ingresar a la iglesia.

• Solo las familias que viven juntas pueden sentarse en el mismo asiento. El resto de los fieles debe mantener la distancia de seguridad (6 pies/2 metros de distancia).

• Todos los presentes deben usar mascarillas (o cubiertas faciales de tela). Sin embargo, el celebrante del sacerdote y sus asistentes no las usarán durante la celebración de la Santa Misa. Los niños menores de dos años y las personas con dificultades respiratorias no deben usarlas. Hacemos hincapié en que nadie será admiAdo sin usar la mascarilla que cubra la nariz y la boca.

• El uso de los baños está reservado sólo para emergencias.

• Los recipientes de agua bendita permanecerán vacíos excepto por el depósito de agua bendita.

• No habrá entrega de las ofrendas ni Signo de la Paz para evitar el contacto cercano con personas.

• No se pasarán las cestas de la colecta. Hay cuatro áreas donde los fieles pueden dejar su limosna en los limosneros a la entrada de la iglesia.

• La rectoría está abierta de 9:00 am a 5:00 pm.

• Los sacerdotes o diáconos no visitarán lugares cerrados. Las bendiciones de casas y la asistencia al velatorio no están permiAdas en estos momentos.

• Los fieles deben recibir la Sagrada Comunión quitándose cualquier cubierta facial al regresar a sus asientos (rogamos a los fieles que la reciban en la mano)..

• La Sagrada Comunión no se puede distribuir con guantes, ni se puede recibir con la mano enguantada.

VI SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (FEBRUARY 14)

Where once the prescripAon for those who suffered from leprosy was to reside outside the camp, away from the community so as not to infect them, and spend their days as beggars and outcasts, we see this pracAce turned on its head by Jesus. According to the Gospel passage: “A leper came to Jesus and kneeling down begged him and said, ‘If you wish, you can make me clean.’ Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand, touched him, and said to him, ‘I do will it. Be made clean.’” With just a word the leper is made clean and whole. CauAoned not to speak of this, the man who is healed cannot contain the thrill of this astonishing healing: “He spread the report abroad so that it was impossible for Jesus to enter a town openly. He remained outside in deserted places, and people kept coming to him from everywhere.” May we, like all those who have stood in need of healing before us, bring all that is unclean within us before God, confident we will not be turned away, but healed and filled with the joy of salvaAon. May we receive the joy of those whose fault is taken away, whose trouble is removed—as we sing our Psalm of salvaAon this day.

Cristo rechaza la prácAca que obligaba a los leprosos a residir fuera del campamento, es decir fuera de la comunidad para no infectarla, y a pasar sus días como mendigos y parias. Según el pasaje del evangelio: “Se acercó a Jesús un leproso que se arrodilló y le suplicó: ‘Si quieres, puedes limpiarme.’ Jesús tuvo compasión, extendió la mano, lo tocó y le dijo: ‘Yo lo quiero; queda limpio’”. Con una sola palabra el leproso está curado íntegramente. Aunque Cristo le indica que no publique este hecho, el hombre curado de su enfermedad no puede contener el gozo de su curación milagrosa: “Pero el hombre, en cuanto salió, empezó a hablar y a contar detalladamente todo el asunto. Resultó que Jesús ya no podía entrar públicamente en el pueblo; tenía que andar por las afueras, en lugares apartados. Pero de todas partes llegaban a donde él estaba”. Que todos nosotros, como todos esos antes de nosotros que se han visto con necesidad de ser curados presentemos todo lo que está impuro dentro de nosotros ante Dios, con la confianza de que no seremos rechazados, sino curados e imbuidos del gozo de la salvación. Que recibamos la alegría de ésos cuya falta está quitada, cuya dificultad es eliminada—según cantamos el salmo de salvación en este día.
