THE WORD OF GOD THIS SUNDAY: For this Sunday, the Second of Easter, the Scriptural readings begin with a passage from the Acts of the Apostles where we are told of the community of those who believe in Jesus. In the second reading, from the First Letter of John, we are re-minded of the relationship between Jesus and the Father. In the Gospel the resurrected Lord brings the gift of peace to His disciples. OPERATION RICE BOWL: Operation Rice Bowl is a Lenten program sponsored by Catholic Relief Services, the international humanitarian aid agency of the Catholic Church in the United States. Rice bowls may be returned to the Parish Office anytime during the Easter season. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: Eucharistic Adoration
takes place on the second Monday of each month in the Chapel of the Parish Center following the 10:00 a.m. Mass until 8:00 p.m. This month it is Monday, April 13th. To insure that there is some-one praying before the Blessed Sacrament at all times, there is a sign-up sheet on the table in the hallway. Please stop by some time during the
day for prayer. SYMPATHY: The sympathy of the parish is extended to parishioners, Bonnie Schriver, at the death of her hus-band and parishioner, Joseph Schriver, Jr., and Lisa Schad at the death of her sister, Anna Maria Sharlow. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP: Our thirteen week bereavement program began April 7th and will meet weekly through June 30th on Tuesday eve-nings from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in Conference Room B of the Parish Center. You may join the group at any time and attend as your schedule permits. Our GriefShare program offers support, conversation, and comfort. Contact Dea-con Ralph Bachner at 724-625-1665 x2103 or [email protected] to register or for more information. HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR MASS AND BREAKFAST:

To Build A Church, a Church Alive
Pledge Redemption Instructions
Over the next five years, we will be collecting on the pledges made to our To Build A Church, A Church Alive Campaign which will enable us to build our church. In order to make the process easier for both you and the parish, we ask that you please utilize the following information when you fulfill your commitment.
Pledge Payments
Remittance statements are mailed the last week of every month. If you are sending payments on a different schedule than monthly, the remittance statement schedule is the same, but you’ll receive them when you selected — semi-annually, annually, etc.
In order to assist Saint Kilian with the pledge payment process over the next five years, please wait for your reminder statement before sending any payments to To Build A Church, A Church Alive. Do not send payments directly to Saint Kilian. Pledges are centrally processed, and the Diocese sends the proceeds to Saint Kilian each quarter over the next five years via our parish’s Diocesan savings & loan account.
If you need to make any changes to your pledge, or if there are any errors, please send the changes to:
To Build A Church, A Church alive c/o Our Campaign for The Church Alive! PO Box 4 Pittsburgh, PA 15230
If you prefer to make your payments electronically (from a bank account or credit card) please visit the Faith Direct Website www.faithdirect.net where you can create an account or sign into your current account. Once on the main homepage of your account, click “Add an Organization,” then enter the code PA162 for the Diocese of Pittsburgh, not PA191 for Saint Kilian. Next, select Saint Kilian from the drop-down menu in order to have your payments apply to the To Build A Church, A Church Alive Campaign at Saint Kilian. The remaining steps will allow you to set up your payment schedule. Finally, you will need to link your payment to a major credit card or bank account of your choosing.

MUSIC MINISTRY I love to explore the roots of various hymns. Our first Communion hymn, Ye Watchers And Ye Holy Ones is a popular Christian hymn written by Athelstan Riley (1858–1945). It is sung to the German tune Lasst Uns Erfreuen which also goes by the name Vigiles et Sancti. Its uplifting melody make this a favorite Anglo-Catholic hymn during times of great rejoicing. The first stanza addresses each of the traditional nine choirs of angels, the second stanza focuses on the Blessed Virgin Mary and is based on ancient Eastern Orthodox prayers to Mary, the third urges the holy souls to join in prais-ing God and also urges the patriarchs, prophets, the holy apostles, the martyrs, and All Saints to join in the praise of God. They are addressed in groups similar to those in the Litany of the Saints. The fourth stanza finally addresses the present congregation and all the living to join together in praise. So in this hymn, all three parts of the church, the church triumphant, the church expectant and the church militant are addressed because of the traditional belief in the communion of saints. Our various choirs can be heard at these liturgies coming up:
Devoto Bells April 26th @ 10:30 a.m.
Adult Choir: April 12th @ 10:30 a.m. April 19th @ 10:30 a.m. If you would like more information regarding the Bell Choir, Children’s Choir or Adult Choir, please contact David Dreher 724-625-1665 x2113 or email [email protected].

The first grade is currently working a pen-pal type project in conjunction with the chapter book, “Flat Stanley”, by Jeff Brown. Each student made their own Flat Stanley and has sent them off to a friend or relative in another state or country. Some of our Flat Stanley’s are currently heading to Japan, India, and Italy, not to mention other various state-side destinations. Accompanying their Flat Stanley, was a letter asking the friend/relative to return him to school after his visit along with a note and pictures about his travels and or a small souvenir from his trip. When their Flat Stanley’s returns to school, we will chart all of his travels on a classroom map. This activity will reinforce our letter writing, addressing envelopes, and mapping skills. The first grade class will also be featured in the upcoming episodes of Story Time with Katy Wayne which airs on Armstrong in April of this year. If you would like to see our fabulous first graders showcased on Story Time, tune in Monday- Friday 7:30 a.m., 2 o’clock and 7:30 p.m. First grade has also experienced two videoconferences with NASA. The first videoconference, entitled Mapping the
Moon with Walle in which the students were able to see a live feed of astronauts! The second videoconfer-ence with NASA, entitled Our Planet Earth, in which the students went on a virtual journey of what different parts of the Earth look like from space.
