Introduction to the Liturgy of the Day Today, we come to the end of the series of Gospels from John about the Eucharist. Jesus asks his disciples (and us) whether they want

to leave after hearing what he has to say. Like the tribes of Israel gathered before Joshua in the first reading, every day we have the choice of serving the Lord or not. May our prayer today be for the wisdom to make the right choice.

CATHOLIC SCHOOL(S) SUBSIDY

Just a reminder to all families with children attending Catholic schools this year that in order to qualify for the $250 per child subsidy from Saint Joseph Parish to the Catholic school, your family:

must be registered with Saint Joseph Parish and be an active participant in the life of worship and faith;

use the parish budget envelopes – this is the only means that the parish has of identifying your family’s contributions;

must financially support the parish in a meaningful way so that the subsidy that is provided to the school(s) represents a portion of the funds you have provided in support of your parish.

Since the parish is asked to forward the subsidy to the schools in October, by the end of September your family’s recorded contributions must exceed the amount of the subsidy requested. Families desirous of requesting a parish subsidy in the fall are asked to take special note of the above criteria.

Saint Joseph Faith Formation Team

The Faith Formation Team works to make available programs, which invite people to participate in a personal and intentional faith with Jesus Christ. Our hope is to offer programs that promote the knowledge of how to practice the Catholic faith with an understanding of the Church’s teachings, practices, and traditions. We discuss and plan faith formation as it pertains to the children, youth, and adult members of our parish.

Teens, young adults and adult members of our parish are invited to participate in this very important parish ministry. New members are always welcome! Meetings take place once a month (generally the first Sunday of every month), after the 9:15 AM Mass in Father Doherty Hall. Our next meeting will be held on Sunday, September 13

th.
