PRAYER OF THE DAY O God, in the glorious transfiguration of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, you confirmed the faith by the witness of Moses and Elijah, and in the voice from the cloud, revealed your beloved Son in whom we also receive adoption. TITLE: “The Glory of Jesus’ Departure” TEXT: Luke 9:28-36

THEME: The keys to this passage are Moses & Elijah, the term ‘departure’ (exodon), and the timing of Abba Father’s confirming words (this is my Son, my Chosen), and how Jesus’ path of mission defines our path of life (v.23-27). The Transfiguration makes sense of the Lenten hymn, “In the Cross of Christ I Glory.” HYMN OF THE DAY “How Good, Lord, To Be Here”

Let’s Share Our Love During the Month of February – As a means of sharing our love with our brothers and sisters who are homeless, the Social Outreach Services Team is sponsoring a drive to provide clothing for our homeless friends. When they arrive at the Warming Center on Orchard Ave., on a cold rainy night, they are wet and shivering and desperately in need of dry warm clothing to change into before they go to sleep. We are asking for your help by providing financial assistance by writing a check to Saint John’s Lutheran Church re: Clothing Drive or by donating thermal shirts, sweat pants, socks, or energy/granola bars. Sizes vary so we are suggesting men’s S, M, or L. Please see the baskets and display in the Commons Area. Thank you in advance for giving from your heart to make a difference to others. Sandy Lebens and the Social Outreach Services Team.
