From the Pastor's Desk:
Dear Parishioners,
Greetings of peace and love to you all. Last weekend we celebrated Pentecost Sundaywhich is always considered the birthday of the Church and concludes the EasterSeason. What a wonderful Easter Season it had been for us. We had a very wellattended and uplifting Parish Mission which was delivered by Fr. Jim Sichko (a Papalmissionary) of Lexington, Kentucky diocese; the vibes are still out there. Thank youall for coming to the mission and I pray that the fruits of the mission will last on all of
us. During this past Easter Season so many of the parishioners stepped up to get more involved in theministries of the church and I want to thank especially the new lectors (Liz Gruis, Diana Zecha, EricShoendaler, Calie Doze and Kathy Hoffman) and the new Eucharistic ministers (Pat Haberman, MarciaWilliams, Brian and Cindy Wilborn) for your generosity in accepting to join the serve. And to all whoserve in various ministries in the parish here at St. John’s, thanks for what you do.
With the end of the school year we have also come to the end of the catechetical year. It was also veryproductive with 9 of our youths receiving the sacrament of Confirmation and 16 children receiving theFirst Holy Communion. How sweet they looked that day and what a joy it was for all of us. To all of thesepersons who received the various sacraments, I wish to extend our congratulations once again. To all theparents, volunteers, sponsors, catechists and DRE please accept the gratitude of this community for allyour time and dedication. However, on a rather somber note, we announce the retirement of Pam Williswho has served as our DRE for the past 20 years. I know Pam deserves all the rest that retirement canafford, but we will miss her a lot. Pam, on behalf of this parish family, let me say THANK YOU for thededicated service you gave us. May the Lord reward you abundantly. We are also pleased to welcome onboard our new DRE in the person of Rose Debes. We are thankful to God that he made Rose available tous at this time to take up the responsibility of helping in our parish faith formation program. We want tothank Rose and her young family for making this sacrifice and we pray that Rose will find fulfillment inthis new task.
Yes here comes the summer!! We have all worked very hard and deserve a summer of rest. I wish you all avery refreshing summer time. But please remember that we cannot take a vacation from Christian life;even as you travel around do not forget your weekend obligation to be at Mass. Be assured of my prayersfor you and yours.
Yours Sincerely,Rev. Anselm Kentus Eke, MSPYour Pastor
