The Knights of Columbus will be set-ting up the traditional Christmas tree with tags shortly. This year, the last Sunday for collecting presents will be Dec 11th. The Knights of Columbus will also be accepting checks made out to K of C Council 6936 or to the Christian Center Inc. Donations will go to buying a nice Christmas dinner for the families, and the remainder to year-round needs for the children.

THANK YOU NOTES Caritas has come and gone with

great success. Words cannot express our gratitude to everyone who helped with this outreach program, to all who loaded and unloaded the cots, to the ladies who did the laundry, the men who spent the night, the volunteers who made sand-wiches and served delicious meals, to the ones who offered their time for the trips to the YMCA, to all who gave money and the items to fulfill our Wish List. St. john’s couldn’t have done it without you. THANK YOU. ******************* Thank you for all your hard work and dedication hosting CARITAS this past week. Your commitment makes a huge difference to our most vulnerable neighbors. We hope you and your volunteers had a wonderful experience in ser-vice. In following up on the week, we know it is important for many Key Volunteers to thank their volunteers, and we wanted to pass on some resources to do that. We have a couple of videos and articles that help people with their follow ups. Anna Hardin, Shelter Manager ******************* Walk for Life: I want to thank all the parishioners of St. John’s for supporting me in this walk. You have contrib-uted $704.00 dollars in supporting the Tri-Cities Preg-nancy Center. Every year the Center sponsors a “ Walk for Life” campaign to help raise awareness of the need to help young girls and women of all ages who are pregnant and have made the choice for life. Once again thank you for your generous support. Fr Frank ********************** The Council of Women would like to thank the owner of Newbridge Coin Laundry, James W. Adkins, Jr and his brother Clifton for providing the washers and dryers used to wash the clothes of our guests from CARITAS on Tues-day of this past week. This saved our parish and the C.O.W. a considerable amount of money, and he is not a member of St. John’s Please patronize his very clean and helpful facility. Manager Clifton is on the remises and as-sist all customers. Thank you. *********************** We have collected and purchased enough hats and gloves to insure that every student at Chimborazo Elemen-tary School will receive a set. We offer a sincere “thank-you” to everyone in our three parishes for your support with this initiative. It’s been a joy working with you to make this happen for the children. We all know that when we work to help God’s little ones, we just can’t go wrong. We know that we will all have a warm spot in our hearts for helping to keep the children warm this winter. This is a great way to begin the Holiday season and we wish each of you God’s blessings. Sincerely with love, Lee and Beverly Williams

Condolences St. John’s family extends deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Robert and Theresa McDowell on the loss of his sister Kitty McKenzie Please keep the family in your prayers-

Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great week. I am writing this pastor message on Monday 11/7, so although the election has occurred as you read this message, it has not at the time I write it. This being said, two things. First, I hope people took seriously the message from our Bishop that was attached to every bulletin last weekend as they voted. The more people follow the will of God as given us by our shepherds, the better off the world will be. And the more we disobey the shep-herd, especially the Chief Shepherd who is God, the worse all our lives will be. It’s real simple. Secondly, while I am writing this pastor message before the election, I already know who’s going to be the boss after the election. I do not spend ex-tensive amounts of time studying polls or probably outcomes, but nevertheless I already know as I write this on Monday, who is the boss after the election on Tuesday. Take a guess. It’s Jesus. Jesus is the boss. Jesus is the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. All things were created through Him. All things were created for Him. He is before all things. And in Him all things have their being. He’s the boss. Not just of the US, but of the world and even the whole universe. He is in charge. And it’s either his way or the highway. No other op-tions, or candidates or choices. And this is a very good thing that he is in charge. He is a lot smarter than us, more loving, more pa-tient and knows what is going to make us happy…a lot more than we ourselves know. So give him thanks today. He is a good boss. Have a good week everyone. Stay close to Jesus. When we please him, we have pleased he whom it is most important to please. Peace!!! Fr Rossi
