Year 11 photo Year 11 had their final photo taken last Tuesday in school. A year group photo was taken along with individual photos. I look forward to seeing them in a few weeks.

Chaplaincy Department 'Let there be peace and let it begin with me.' Saint John Houghton are putting their Faith In Action. Rachel would like to praise the pupils who are willing to dig deeper into their faith and are committed to building a relationship with God. Team Chaplaincy Rachel would like to thank Savannah Jackson, Joseph Renshaw, Daisy Lee, Adam Roach, Brodie Fearn, Callum Butler and Freya Lyons for preparing our Upper Room and supporting our first 'Prayers for Vocations'. Bishop Patrick has asked us to put time aside each month for prayers for vocations, please find these sessions on our school calendar and consider joining us in February. All welcome.

More thanks to Year 8 Team Chaplaincy for leading the Peace Act of Worship and explaining the ‘Jimmy Mizen foundation’ and our pledge to Jimmy's family. More news on our actions in next weeks Friday Letter. Year 9 Team Chaplaincy have begun discussing workshops for 'A Heart Which Sees', this mission will follow the Year of Mercy and encourage us to look at the world with Christ's eyes.

Bereavement Team Please take time to visit our Upper Room and pay attention to the Bereavement Table knowing you are welcome to add to our school community memories. A special thanks to Annyalla Riley for her beautiful support and gentle ways this week.

Rachel would like to thank the Year 9 girls who stayed after school this week to support the Reception Staff, they were a Dream Team and Rachel will be treating Mrs Brear and the girls to fish and chips as a 'thank you' for putting service before self.

More praise to Seweryn Donchor, John Kaweesa and Kian Riley for their company and fun in the Chaplaincy Department this week.

The Science department held a special Act of Worship this morning to recognise the achievements and efforts that the Year 7 and 8’s have put into their projects. Each class in the year group was awarded a 3rd, 2nd and 1st place certificate. Overall Winner Year 8: Edward Attenborough for his excellent model of a guitar (including detail on how it has been constructed and how it works). Not only do the congratulations go to the winners, but also for everyone who took part! There was some fantastic work on display and it was clear to see some students spent a lot of time and effort making their project. The Science department look forward to celebrating these achievements again in the future.

More sport success for Saint John Houghton Year 7 and 8 Sportshall Athletics On Wednesday 17 January the Year 7 and 8 Sportshall teams took part in the Ereswash District competition. All teams did exceptionally well winning all 4 of the competitions on the evening, including the Year 7 Boys, Year 7 Girls, Year 8 Boys and Year 8 Girls Competitons. All teams will now take part in the County Competition In March.

Run Club Run Club was somewhat depleted this week due to the Sportshall Athletics, however five brilliant students ventured out into the cold, damp, miserable afternoon. The group headed to Kirk Hallam lake and did a number of timed efforts around the lake. Well done to; Ellie Grace Johnson, Ethan McAuley, Lucy Hulse Russell Oliver Hodson and Ben Marshall.

Thank you to Mrs Davies, Miss Pearce, Mr Parr and Mrs Taddeo for running with the group this week.

The Year 11 science revision lesson will begin Tuesday 24 January 3:15 to 4:15pm. First lesson will be Physics revision but each week will be different and we will publish the topic being covered on the science notice board opposite Room 11.
