Dear Folks, This is the letter that proceeds the political elections for the Sunday that follows the elections. That said, I have nothing to say on any results but pray for all the folks of the parish, both young and old. Whatever happens we will be here the day after and meet the Lord before his altar. Thanks to the inspiring example for all who participated in the Holy Hour and Adoration hours before the election. God bless Mark Forrest in his wonderful lead in putting ourselves once again in the graces of God. Let us pray for one another. Also thank you for your prayers in my time of bronchitis. This has been one very tough “cold.” I am most grateful for Fr. Heisler for carrying the ball for both of us in my absence. He is the best. He had a very similar cold/cough when I first arrived, a year ago. Now he is a model of health we can all follow. In some facets of life this week... there is hope. Cough! Cough! Cough! God bless all the trick or treaters who joined Fr. Heisler at the rectory. Pictures will follow in a Parish Letter. It was all very cute. Still plenty of candy left over. It will have to out the door before… next year. Ha! Ha! Ha! This is also the week dedicated to Vocations to priesthood and religious life. More will follow in a Parish Letter.

Collegiate Answer: St. Stephen was the first martyr of the Church and was put to death on the same charge of Christ, blasphemy. It was the Sanhedrin, Jewish governing body that handed down the charge/sentence.Collegiate Question: Who/What was the first mammal to enter space… for the Russians? What happened to him?

This week we are excited to introduce you to yet another incredible story and man of God … Dr. John Bergsma. Dr. Bergsma will take us on his spiritual and intellectual journey From Protestant Pastor to Catholic Profes-sor. Through this journey, we will be renewed with a profound, faithful and reverent love for the one, holy, Catholic and apostolic Church rooted in Sacred Scripture.

See you there and bring a friend!Wednesday 7pm (in person) Saturday 7am (in person); 8am (ZOOM)All in person meetings will take place in the Parish Education Center. If you have never attended at all, or simply came to a couple of meetings, you can jump into this new content without any issue. SHARE SUNDAY FOOD DRIVE – SUNDAY NOV. 8thPlease consider bringing donations of non-perishable foods to the Church this Sunday November 8th. You can place your donations in the Narthex and the Knights will collect them and deliver them to the food bank. The Knights of Columbus Share Sunday program has donated over 2,000 pounds of food and over $4,000 in Checks/Cash/Gift Cards to the Catholic Charities food bank in Leesburg from 7/1 to 10/11. This would not have been possible without the generous donations made by you!!! We have another opportunity to help those less fortunate. The first week-end of every month the bags are passed out after every Mass and then collected the following week full of donated food. All of the Knights of Columbus Councils in the area were notified that the food bank is having difficulties keeping an adequate supply of milk and eggs for those who are in need. Your council, starting the first week in November and each month thereafter when passing out our bags will also be collecting cash, checks and gift cards to provide to the food bank so they can buy milk and eggs. Thank you again for your generosity!

Need of Food, Check/Gift Card for Donations for the Leesburg Catholic Charities Food BankYour Knights of Columbus Council with the support and generosity of the Parishioners of St Francis de Sales this year, since July, have donated over 2,000 pounds of food and donated over $4,000 dollars in checks, cash and gift cards to the Catholic Charities food Pantry to help thousands of Loudoun’s most food needy. I am continually amazed by the generosity of our Parish. The Covid -19 virus is affecting every part of our society, in-cluding the cancellation of Masses at our respective churches, the increased need of those who are holding lower wage jobs who are not working, those who have had jobs but now are not getting paid. The demand for food has increased because of all the above. While some food will come from the St. Lucy Food Project warehouse in Manassas, their ability to meet the need is limited. Please read below to see how you can help:Please consider bringing a non-perishable food donation to Church this Sunday November 8th. Please leave your dona-tions in the back of the Narthex and the Knights will collect all donations and deliver to the food bank.We beseech you to consider making a monetary contribution or give gift cards from any grocery store and/or checks pay-able to “St. Francis Council 11136”. We can make a payment to the Catholic Charities St Lucy Project in Leesburg so they can either purchase food or assist them in the food operations of the food pantry. Please mention “Food Bank” in the memo line of checks. We will collect checks on Sunday November 8th during our Share Sunday Drop Off.If you prefer, Checks and gift cards can be mailed to:St. Francis Council 11136, PO Box 1274, Purcellville, VA 20134
