SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER or DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY Every year we celebrate Easter for seven weeks — a “week of weeks” — because we need all this time to appreciate all the new things that God is doing in our lives. So on this Second Sunday of East-er, we focus on the early church and how those disciples received and spread the Good News of God’s merciful love. May we learn much from them as we pray together today.

(a) Weekly target necessary to fund Parish operating expenses and avoid operating deficit. As followers of Christ Jesus, we are reminded that all things including life itself are a gift from God. What matters to God is not the gift, but the giver. Giving is God’s invitation to a way of life. It helps us to overcome our selfishness and love of things. What we do with what we have been given is a sign to God and to the world of the depth and meaning of our commitment. By recalling that all is gift, we therefore must strive to be generous with the financial gifts, both great and small, that God has be-stowed upon us. Thank you for your support and your generosity to God and to St. Bernadette Parish. St. Bernadette Parish has enlisted Parish Giving to provide its parishioners and supporters with the opportunity to use Electronic Funds Transfer as an alternative method for giving. The Program is free of charge for parishioners. More information about Parish Giving is available on our Parish web site: www.stbl.org on the “Parish Giving” page.

From Kindergarten The kindergarten boys and girls have been enjoying a number of fun and engaging activities recently. Grandparents and special friends were invited into the school for a special celebration. The kindergarteners sang a song to their special visitors, followed by sharing a morning snack with them in the cafeteria. They worked very hard on writing a special journal entry for their visitor which they shared with them when every-one returned to the kindergarten classrooms. We had a fantastic turn out and all of he kindergarteners were proud to show off their school and their classroom! Leading up to Easter was an exciting time in the two kin-dergarten classrooms. One of the interesting activities that they did was making a Decade of prayer beads with their prayer partners from the older grades. They worked hand in hand with their older partners to lace beads while they discussed Easter! In language arts the students will dive into the theme of friendship and the importance of being a good friend. They will review how to write different letters while continuing to prac-tice sounding out words while writing in their journals. Our friends will continue to learn about three dimensional shapes in math class through a number of engaging hands on activities! It's an exciting time in kindergarten with many fun days ahead of us!
