SACRAMENTS TODAY:
Sixth Sunday of EasterMay 21, 2017
The Lord has freed his people, alleluia!
FOR THE RIDE HOME First Reading: Acts 8: 5-8 Second Reading: 1 Pt 3:15-18 Gospel: Jn 14: 15-21
Why are acts of love the most powerful tools we have to bring others to Christ?
When we, as Christians, show love, we reveal the life of God among people. Why? Simply because we affirm the presence of the Risen Lord with us. And we show others life of the Spirit within us. Love, then, is "the shoe leather of faith." Love is faith in action.
How will you show love this week to others?

Join Us With Mary When life got overwhelming and too big for us as children, we turned to our mother for support and guidance. As adults, we thank her for all she had done for us. Now we are blessed with the opportunity to turn to our Heavenly Mother Mary to ask for her support and guidance, and thank her for the many blessings she has given us. Every Wednesday after 9:00 AM mass (at 9:30), you are invited to join us as we pray the rosary to ask for her help and guidance and to thank her for her abounding love.
WELCOME!

RELIGIOUS FORMATION REGISTRATION INFO FOR 2017-18
New registration night is set for Wed. June 7th at 6:30 PM in the Parish Hall. Families need to be registered members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish. This can be done at any time through the office or speak with an usher at Mass. FOR MORE INFORMATION about the program, PLEASE GO TO THE WEB SITE: www.steas.org/Religious Formation.
WHAT TO BRING TO REGISTRATION? All new registrants must bring the baptismal certificate for their child, if they were NOT baptized here at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish. We cannot accept a registra-tion without it! Formal classes begin in first grade, or Level 1. Because Communion preparation is a two year process, children need to begin at Level 1. Children attend classes each year just like school. We also have provision for students with special needs and older students without prior religious education.
ATTENTION PARENTS & GRANDPARENTS It’s that time of year – Graduation! Our Teens are becoming Young Adults—starting college with a lifetime of
opportunities in front of them. Help your graduates continue their journey of faith!
We would like to help our teens keep a faith connection while they are in college. Many will be away from home and out on their own. What better way to help them stay grounded and give them a safe place to meet new friends than through their university’s Newman Center. Newman Centers are found on most secular universities through-out the country. These Centers provide pastoral services and ministries to Catholic students and give them a way of meeting young men and women who want to grow in their faith. If you would like to give your son/daughter this opportunity, please take a moment to make that connection and enroll in the Newman Connection today. It’s
simple and easy!
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
To enroll please e-mail Marianne Sheridan, Director for Youth Ministry, at [email protected] by June 15th with the following information: Graduate’s first and last name and the name of the college they will be attending in Sep-tember 2017. It’s as simple as that! This information will then be forwarded to the proper Newman Center and your Son/daughter will be welcomed in the fall when they arrive at their school.

SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER
FIRST COMMUNIONS – 2017
WE CELEBRATE JESUS…THE BREAD OF LIFE! Congratulations to all the young people of the parish who have received their First Communion this month. We are so proud of you and pray that this will be the start of your new life with Jesus in the Eucharist. Numerous hands went into their preparation and the ultimate celebrations.
At the top of the “thank you” list, is our First Communion Coordinator, Isa-bella Fitzpatrick, who gave numerous hours to see that each Mass was a memorable experience for all. At this time, I would also like to acknowledge our Catechists who have guided them in their weekly classes this year: Tina Amoroso, Barbara DeStefano, Diana Erickson, Nina Fingerhut, Katie Finn, Nicolette Florio, Bonnie Page and Marie Quick. For each Liturgy, we had the assistance of many of our Catechists who
greeted and guided the families through the Mass. A special note of thanks and appreciation goes to: Marie Quick, Bonnie Page, Abby Preziosi, Liz Macchio, Marie Montgomery, Nicolette Florio, Gerri Feola, Nancy Grant and our Confirmation candi-dates who all gave many hours to help with our celebrations.
At each Mass, we were fortunate to have altar servers: Vincent Ginley, Jessica Cagnard, Sebastian Rose and Alexandra Gibaldi assist. Thanks to our music ministry for adding to our celebrations: Phyllis Benanti, Carol Fox, Katie Finn and the Youth choir musicians who led us in song. We thank our Lectors and Eucharisitc Ministers for their service at the four celebra-tions. Our pastor, Fr. Dan, celebrant at each Mass, welcomed everyone in his usual special way and even added a new homily this year. The numerous behind the scenes tasks are monumental but our Religious Ed. Secretary, Barbara Wells, did a fantastic job, once again, in pulling
everything together so beautifully. Again, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU EVERYONE!
Gratefully,
Michele Hahn

Congratulations 2017 First Holy Communion Candidates
Did you know because of the Catholic Ministries Appeal last year…. We delivered or served more than 550,000 meals to
senior citizens and young families. Parish outreach centers, including our food pantries,
assisted more than 100,000 families. Our Office of Hospital Ministry served more than
300,000 people in local hospitals. 12,000 volunteer Catechists taught Religious Educa-
tion to more than 110,000 of our children in public schools.
In our 133 Parishes there were more than 17,000 Baptisms, 17,000 First Communions, 19,000 Confirma-tions and 3,000 Weddings.
We provided safe and affordable housing for strug-gling seniors through 15 housing facilities with more than 1,200 affordable apartments.
Our parish received a cash rebate of more than $10,000 which helped to offset expenses needed to maintain our building and to fund the many pro-grams we offer.
Please consider making a pledge to this most worthy charity. We need the help of every parish family to reach our goal of $51,100. You have until January 31, 2018 to pay off your pledge. No down payment is necessary. The Diocese will send monthly reminders. Keep in mind this is not a legal document. If you feel you cannot keep up your payments, simply discontin-ue them.
