SAINT BRIDGET PARISH MAYNARD, MASSACHUSETTS
SPECIAL SECOND COLLECTION This weekend August 17-18, we will have a Special Collection, to support Fr. Anicet’s Society of Africa missions, in apprecia-tion for his ministry this summer at St Bridget Parish. Father will return to Togo at the end of the month. May God bless Fr.
Anicet in his ministry and please keep him in your prayers
Twentieth Sunday of Ordinary Time Sundays in the summer often afford us more time for leisure and contemplation. Today’s readings give us much food for thought if we take a few minutes to take another look. Who do you count
among “the great a cloud of witnesses” in your life? Is there someone that is a pillar of faith and strength that you admire? What is it about that person that you can imitate – today? The
race mentioned in the letter to the Hebrews is NOT the “rat race” we so easily get trapped in, it is the race to eternal life,
the race we run in faith each day, “…while keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus.”

Director Ron Chibaro encourages many new members in this year of transition, to continue the legacy of moving liturgical music that the choir has held for half a decade. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays starting at 7:30pm and Sundays at 7:20am, both in the lower church. The choir sings weekly at the 8:30am Mass. If you have any questions,

Dear Friends, Saint Bridget and Our Lady of Fatima Parishes exist to make and nurture disciples of Jesus Christ. Our weekend Masses are the greatest opportunity we have to share our faith in Jesus with each other, nourish everyone with the sacrament of Holy Communion and celebrate the communi-ty we enjoy. The new Mass schedule, which we announced over the August 3rd weekend, is part of our sincere effort to keep our Masses meaningful for us and to make them all positive experiences for any unchurched family members or friends whom we might invite to join us. I’m grateful for the insight, direction, and thoughtfulness of both parishes’ staffs, pastoral councils, and finance coun-cils, who helped us arrive at the new Mass schedule. Col-lectively, we believe that these changes are positive and will help us best serve the people of Maynard and Sudbury. We do not make these changes lightly, and are especially sensitive to the disruption of the schedules and habits of many of our parishioners. I personally pray for your under-standing and patience as we move forward with these deci-sions. The new Mass schedule begins on the weekend of August 24th and 25th: Saturday, 4:00 pm at Saint Bridget Sunday, 8:30 am at Saint Bridget Sunday, 10:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Sunday 12:00 pm at Our Lady of Fatima Sunday, 5:30 pm at Our Lady of Fatima The new Mass schedule allows me to be fully present at Saint Bridget and Our Lady of Fatima, and for all of the weekend Masses to be celebrated by a single priest, if nec-essary. Also, the new schedule can accommodate the needs of both parishes for Sunday morning Faith Formation and Hospitality. I am confident that the new schedule will be a long-term decision, but of course the staff, the councils, and I will monitor the effects of and reactions to the chang-es over time. The work we are doing to bring Saint Bridget and Our Lady of Fatima closer together will build a wonderful foundation when both parishes enter into collaboration with Saint An-selm Rectorate. Thank you for your commitment and sup-port to our parish. Finally, I ask all of you to pray for both parishes as we work together to make and nurture disciples of Jesus Christ. God bless, Fr. Gerald Souza
