Birthday Party for Jesus

After our annual Christmas Pageant last Sunday, we had our Birthday Party for Jesus. Santa came and so Fr. Mullen was able to bend his ear. Maybe our pastor will not get coal in his stocking this year! (Thanks to Robert Daley of the Circle CG Farm Campground.)

Financial: Last week’s offertory was $5,068. and the total revenue was $10,786. Also,

$1,052. was collected on the Holy Day. The tithe of $1078 went to our tithe to the Archdiocese of Boston. This week’s tithe will be for the charitable works of Most Holy Redeemer Parish in East Boston. 10% of the parish revenues each week go to outside collections and charities. Thank you for your generosity! Please remember St. Brendan’s in your will! We make a statement about what we value when in our will we direct that our possessions be given to those we love, as well as to the Church and charitable organizations.

Christmas Collection

The Christmas Collection will be for the sick and retired priests of the Archdiocese of Boston. You are asked to show your usual generosity. Envelopes for the Christmas Collection, if you don’t receive them in the mail, are available at the doors of the church. Thank you!

Are You New to St. Brendan’s? If you are new to St. Brendan’s then Fr. Mullen and Deacon Ghioni would like to meet you. Please introduce yourself to them after Mass. Also, parish registration forms can be found on the table outside the parish offices in the parish hall.

Pray for the purification of the Church!

Sacristans Needed We are in need of two teams of sacristans (four people), to work in teams of two, to help keep our beautiful Church looking that way. The duties would consist of light dusting, keeping the windows of the doors clean, basic straightening up and vacuuming. Services would be needed about once a month. Holy Hour for the Purification of the Church

The Wednesday night Holy Hour for the Purification of the Church will be continued after the holidays.

Giving Tree Thanks

We are grateful to all who donated to the Giving Tree! Through it we helped 23 families in the area have a more festive Christmas. Special thanks are given to Marie Opera, who organized it all. She was helped by Gladys Griffin, John Crossmun, Pat Whalen, Taryne Bakalars, and Marie’s husband Rick.

From the time that we were young kids growing up in Dorchester receiving First Communion, through our marriage, as we brought up our own four boys, and now as grandparents, Boston priests have been a guiding light that we reach out to in di�erent situations that have come up in our lives.As parents, our faith life has helped us to guide our family. We are an ordinary family, and, like all families, things don’t always go smoothly. The priests we have known through the years, like Fr. Peter Martocchio, have helped us to learn to take things in stride and put our faith in God, and that there is always hope.While not perfect, ours has been a wonderful life, which has been enriched by many Boston priests who have helped us along the way.
