Dear Friends,

By God’s grace, we have arrived to a New Year! I wish all of you many blessings and a renewal of your faith, beyond and through the challenges we have seen in the past year.

Celebrating the Epiphany on this first Sunday of 2021 should be joyful and fruitful for us. I have been in-trigued lately by all the talk about the “Christmas Star” people have studied in the Christmas skies. Yes, I know it was actually two planets aligning to produce the look of a bright star. It is cool to think of something that hasn’t happened in 800 years (so far no one has agreed to remembering that occasion). It is also a help to our perspective to consider that back then Christianity was well established and not new in many places. And to realize that here in the “New World” it was still totally unknown.

The Magi are known for the courage it took to embark on their uncertain but promising journey. Perhaps search-ing the night skies to see the aligning planets stirred up something in our imagination. Here in the city we ar-en’t as attuned to the glories of nature’s beauty. Sunsets and sunrises, constellations and comets—these are be-yond our control and they invite us to think about our place in the world. The Birth of Jesus reminds us that in God’s eyes we are particularly special in the complexity and majesty of the created world. He came among us to save us. We are always in God’s mind and in His Heart. May we, this New Year, allow ourselves a return to the wonder which leads to the peace and freedom that the Adoration of Jesus brings to us—and to our world.

¡Por la gracia de Dios, hemos llegado a un Nuevo Año! Les deseo a todos muchas bendiciones y que su fe sea renovada, más allá y a través de los desafíos que hemos visto el año pasado.

La celebración de la Epifanía en este Primer Do- mingo del 2021 debe ser una manifestación de alegría y provecho para nosotros. Últimamente me ha intrigado todo lo que se dice sobre la "Estrella de Navidad" que la gente ha estudiado en los cielos Navideños. Sí, sé que en realidad eran dos planetas que se alineaban para produ-cir el aspecto de una estrella brillante. Es genial pensar en algo que no ha sucedido en 800 años (hasta ahora nadie ha aceptado recordar esa ocasión). También es una ayuda para nuestra perspectiva considerar que en ese entonces el Cristianismo estaba bien establecido y no era algo nuevo en muchos lugares. Asimismo, darse cuenta que aquí en el "Nuevo Mundo" todavía era total-mente desconocido.

Los Reyes Magos son conocidos por el coraje que necesitaron para embarcarse en su incierto pero prometedor viaje. Quizás buscar en los cielos noc-turnos para ver los planetas alineados despertó algo en nuestra imaginación. Aquí en la ciudad no es-tamos tan sintonizados con las glorias de la belle-za de la naturaleza. Atardeceres y amaneceres, constelaciones y cometas—están fuera de nuestro control y nos invitan a pensar en nuestro lugar en el mundo. El Nacimiento de Jesús nos recuerda que en los Ojos de Dios somos particularmente especiales en la complejidad y

Confessions are being heard in the meeting rooms down the hall to the right of the main entrance to the church in Rooms 8, 9 and 10. We are using these rooms so that the prescribed social distancing rules can be observed for your protection and ours.

A brief Communion Service is being offered on the courtyard at 9:00 am Monday-Saturday and at 10:00

am on Sundays. On days with bad weather, the service is held in the vestibule.

All baptisms and baptism classes are back on schedule. They will require the same guidelines and restrictions for social distancing as attending Mass at St. Antho-ny. Call the parish office between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. Baptism dates and registration forms are available on our parish website under the “Sacraments.”

The King James Version of the Bible is a protestant bible that only has 66 books because Martin Luther removed 7 of them. Consider a New Year's res-olution of reading from Scripture every day.
