Jesus was born into a family and was raised within a family. His mother Mary and foster father, Joseph, taught Jesus the fundamentals of what it means to be human and what it means to believe in God. Their presence in His life was necessary and could not be substituted for. Jesus' birth into a family was no accident. This fact draws our attention to the importance of family and the reality that the family is the basic unit of society. The Church tells us that each family is a "domestic church" and that within families faith is first accepted, taught and demonstrated. The family itself is sacred and is part of God's plan for human life and the flourishing of that life. This Sunday, we pray for all Christian families that God makes them strong in faith, eager in love and filled with every grace and virtue. For families to succeed, God must be acknowledged as the center of family life by all members. It is critical that families pray together, for the whole family and for the needs of the members individually. Coming to Mass regularly is the most important prayer that families pray together. On Holy Family Sunday, we consider the family of Jesus as our model. As Mary and Joseph taught Jesus how to pray and participated actively in their faith, so we reflect upon the example of parents in their children's faith formation. If parents come to Mass regularly and pray at home their children will too. If they show love to others and share faith with others their children will learn from them and do the same. We pray for the families of St. Ann's that they may be like the Holy Family. At this year's Christmas pageant we saw firsthand the difference a family makes in the life of children and in the life of a parish. Parents and their children worked together to give the whole parish the gift of the performance so that the message of the Gospel could be experienced in a meaningful way. We thank all the families who participated in this year's pageant and we ask God to bless them with His love. Have a blessed and healthy new year! In Christ, Fr. Michael Thank you for the generous donations made for Christmas flowers to decorate our sanctuary made in honor and memory of your loved ones. We wish everyone a happy healthy and holy new year.

Dear Friends in Christ, This Sunday, the Church invites us to reflect upon family. Jesus was born into a family and was raised within a family. Mass for the Memorial of Saint Brother Andre Bessette On Wednesday, January 6th, 2016 at 7PM a bilingual (French & English) Mass will be celebrated in observance of the Memorial of Saint Brother Andre Bessette (1845-1937). "Le frere Andre" of "Brother Andre" is known as the founder of Saint Joseph's Oratory in Montreal. He was above all else, a friend of the sick and the poor. Inspired by Saint Joseph, his chosen patron, he worked tirelessly to bring healing and comfort to the afflicted. He was canonized in 2010. The Mass will be celebrated at Saint Joseph's Church, 35 Hamilton Street, Worcester, MA. Veneration of the relic of Brother Andre will conclude the liturgy. A reception will follow. All are welcome.
